The '3' was like that when I stuck it on last Friday with my usual precision...

Just finished washing and scraping off the rest of the splatter, a few giblets round the front suspension and more than one feather...
Yes, lifted off at the sight of the other two approaching the track, just after Keepers Jonathan, digging deep in 3rd, and hanging on a bit.

The record at Loton is 3 birds, held by Peugeot driver Ralph Pinder.

Split the front lower lip in 3 places and a few other cracks too. Quite heavy birds.

Keith, when you get on the hills next year you will say a few plucking words too!

At least I didn't get a face-full of the thing.
Car tucked away until Xmas when a very deep clean/strip down will get underway, car looking tatty atm.

Went to check the points this evening and fit order some new ones if necessary. The car wouldn't start. 2.8v in the battery?? Removed my USB charging fix. Trying to recharge the battery now but taking a while so I figured maybe it just went. New battery ordered will charge then leave o/n in the car to see what happens

Neil, my car had stood for well over a year with its Optima 6v battery not having enough puff to turn over the engine.
My “Lidl” Battery Conditioner was duly coupled up and after a couple of hours clicked off to indicate a full charge.
Guess What?
One churn and that was it. The battery I assumed was buggered.

I mentioned this to a friend with an Optima on a racing Mini and he told me to use a conventional charger, the old type with no knock off facility.
He added that the modern types were no good for an Optima.

My old charger took 2 days at 3 amps to charge but what a difference!
No new battery needed, just a proper charge!!!

Took the car out for an Italian Service to celebrate......

Interesting. Optima which I've charged many times using this charger. However, I left it on overnight and it was at 6.8v. Next proper ride and this happened.

What does your friend mean by an old charger? I think mine is 4a

The old fashioned type charger, probably at least twenty years old, Made in England pre-digital era, usually with a switch for 6 or 12 volts and an ammeter on the front.
They buzz like a Sub-Station and make a Lead Acid Battery fizz like a glass of Coke!!!

Handy for giving an Optima a kick up the a*se too!
The Optima website says (in respect of their products) that the charging process should be concluded once the charge has dropped below 1amp and that the temperature of the battery should not exceed 50 degrees.
Charging should also be stopped if the battery releases gas from its safety valve.

First drive! Only 10 miles between showers but loved it...

Fabulous Wayne, looks the business too!

Keen to snatch a nice day out, went to the Elan Valley in mid Wales today in the Boxster.
Oh so nice.
Almost clear roads, good surfaces, easy parking and fabulous views.
Could have been in Canada or New England, pine needle smells and hard bright light.
There is a flight of reservoirs to visit, mighty Victorian structures to get fresh soft water to Birmingham 150 years or so ago.

Started the 993 for the first time since early July 2019. Battery has been connected to a CTek battery conditioner. First turn of the key started the engine. Took it for a brief drive. I had forgotten what a fabulous car the 993 is.

The orange car looks great.

Changed my battery and points. Found the cause of the earlier flat battery. I left the radio on.

Old points looked a bit worn.

Test drive tomorrow
