Daughter is going to Uni this week ... with the way Covid lockdowns are looming might not see her again until xmas ... so took her for a drive out on the 964 ( which she likes a lot , but the 2.4 has always been ‘her’ car ) ending up in york for lunch and a bit of shopping. Nothing better than spending a bit of quality time with your daughter

Even the Polo looks huge next to the 964 James.

Snap crackle POP !
After a weekend scaring the living daylights out of unsuspecting Nidderdale ramblers and bovine onlookers I suspected pinholes somewhere in my ageing exhaust box.
Back home, with the car in the air I prepared to search for the elusive pinholes, watching out for tiny telltale carbon plumes.
Short of that, the Maestro suggests, "if the leak is not obvious, have an assistant drop a little oil into the carburettor throat with the engine running and watch carefully for puffs of white smoke in and around the exhaust system."
I peered at my exhaust, poked it with a finger and discovered a finger size hole next to another finger sized hole. Same story on the other side... no wonder fuel was igniting in my exhaust, there was a veritable breeze blowing through there.
With a new exhaust 3 weeks away I spent this morning applying the Holt's Gun Bandage, something I haven't done since 1979.
Pleased to report that with the new puttees there were no reports on the way home this evening. All is well for now.
Looking forward to the Turbo Thomas.

Rear calipers replaced, new pads, bled and run in. In the absence of 250 miles gentle pottering, you have to run it for 5 mins, hitting the brakes hard every 5-10 seconds until they are red hot, then cruise home with no brakes and allow to cool.
And they really were red hot, look at the discs, and this is on the rear!
All sorted now though and slicks back on ready for Shelsley

Just back from 8 days touring the north of Scotland and back home via the Lakes, just over 1600 miles in the Boxster.
This car was designed for these trips.
Now very dirty and scabby inside and out, will be busy tomorrow morning with soap and water.
Dare I say 34.5 mpg (James) on 95 octane

Perranporth sprint - Truro & District MC. Actually, I can lay part of the blame on Adrian Crawford, who's been badgering me to enter. Ran out of excuses.
Had to buy a new race suit – my old UK two-layer Nomex suit was, ahem, 25 years old... My US-spec Simpson drag race suit isn't much use! At least my helmet is legal on both sides of the Atlantic.
Next year, the hills? Hmmm, that could be embarrassing.

Gotta try to be like Mr Smoothie himself - JW. Whenever I track drive (which is very rarely), I always tend to be too aggressive. I remember driving a 992 GTS at the Porsche Experience Centre and the first thing the instructor said was 'I see you have your race head on...Try taking it a little more easily. Don't stamp on the brakes so hard.'
Trouble is, I had in my mind a quote from Stirling Moss where he said your foot should be flat on the floor at all times - brakes or throttle, push as hard as you can.
