I've been busy recently fettling my new 911. Today was a lovely morning and the car was loaded with fine jewellery ready to be fitted and a nice early morning drive to the garage was in order.
Unfortunately, a series of small explosions emanating from the cars hind quarters and the car failing to proceed further resulted in a different sort of drive.
Hey, ho. The joys of 40 year old cars

Sorry to hear about the breakdown but congratulations on the new acquisition. So which one gets to come to CLM?

Thanks Tom.
It was to be the C3 to France but given the reliability issues I'll probably pitch up in the 968. Hopefully C3 can prove herself reliable in time for the Scotland tour.

Own the way home to Cambridge after a rapid two-day tour of Wales with Yoda and 5 others. Glorious weather, amazing roads and not too much traffic. Many pictures were taken (just not by me!) so I suspect some will be posted at one point, with a fuller description.

I put the engine and gearbox back in, and drove around the block !
Tomorrow, I'll wash off the oily fingerprints, but for today, that's a job well done

Took a nice 'speed limit' cruise to Cholmondelely Speed Festival today with the 911 and the wife.
Buzzed by a woman in an old Ford Focus who zoooomed up to my bumper at Mach8/warp speed and hung on my arse for miles while i kept a distance from the lorry in front of me with double white lines for company.
Hassled to the curb, to the lines, to the curb etc so i pulled right over to the curb and gave her a pi$$ed-off look as she drove up the arse of the lorry....
WHY do people drive this way today?
Eventually she over took the lorry and i did too. 911 sure goes well when you get the pedal to the metal.

Took the 911 out AGAIN, today to Ludlow to the Open Gardens of the Town, quite good actually.
Came home with 2 roses in the back.
Also felt the car was not quite 'on-song' with the two centre pipes capped of the 2 in / 3 out silencer, now 18 years old.
So; with permission granted, opened the whole lot up and the car ran so much better, and not that much louder.
Think i will fit a new simple Dansk, though the wife wants a Turbo Thomas unit!
Had to take the car through the town centre to get the flowers. Forgot how much attention an old 911 can draw..
Now washed and away.
MoT next friday.

Finally fitted the Blaupunkt Frankfurt that I bought through eBay a couple of months ago.
Surprisingly good sound.

Fixed a fuel leak from one of my Weber carbs, ready for Fairmile tomorrow. Also fitted the CLM grill badge and removed my 50 years of 911 badge.
