Time for an update Gary?

Not much to report!

I’ve been busy with work & family recently.

I’ve put a few hours into this corner today and can finally see the light at the end of this particularly painful and fiddly tunnel.

Just the front flange and seal channel to do.

Excellent to see you dealing with the intensive stuff...never to be seen once assembled but important to do it right

Two small bulkhead patches (to remove my EFi wiring holes) then I’m onto the scary stuff of sills...

Sills are not hard, it's the remedial work just beyond that's hard.

Well I thought the front was done but a nagging concern over a lack of symmetry bothered me. So I dry built it up with the seals, wings and bonnet and found the LHS front flange was well out of position. So cut it off and tried again!

Now it fits



Bulkhead patches are done, so maybe some paint needed on this lot to properly tick the ‘done’ box

Before anything silly like paint I thought I’d start the sills.

So made a jig to locate the flange and top edge to door gap. It bolts to the seat mounts.



First cuts around the edges:



Bacofoil kidney bowl:



All this is coming out, just want to do it step by step. Area of the inner wing behind the kidney bowl is like tissue.

Mine were like that, both sides in 1988!
The next cut will be interesting assuming you are removing the vertical membranes?

I don't really think I need to suggest this, but is the shell level to prevent twist as the shell loses it's rigidity?

It’s going on Barry’s jig before welding, but it’s also using the tripod technique at the moment to avoid any torsion loading. Two at the back, one in the middle at the front.
