Drive out and walk.
DDK badge almost came off!
New fan belt working nicely. I think the old one was slipping

110 miles through the Cotswolds today in the old 911.
These old cars are hard work in modern traffic.
Lots of classics on the roads which was good to see.

Got car back from Ben Lewis's workshop, so next job was to swap to the Vintage Speed silencer. A symphony in stainless steel and TIG welding.

Well.... some parts are TIG... but some of the welds are MIG by a huge robot arm!

Looks good Keith
For me,a landmark for this year;
Race numbers - check
Slick tyres (a first for me) - check
Very pleased that motorsport has started up again. It’s a bit odd, no family, spectators etc but looking forward to giving the car a good leg stretch in a sprint at Combe...

Very nice. I don't know why more Porsche purists don't like Boxster

Finally managed to get the engine mount bolts out, so changed for new mountings. The old ones, the rubber had perished and the metal a little rusty.
Am I meant to notice a difference when driving, as I am not sure I do?

First time on slicks Wayne?
I remember by first time on them at Loton!
I think you actually need to live with a Boxster to understand how well rounded every aspect is.

Thanks Neil. It is a stonkingly good car and embarrasses much more powerful machinery

Yes, first time Graham. Got a 2nd hand set to try before making the considerable investment

They are end of life really, off a car you know well, but good fun and another learning experience with no pressure given the Championship has been cancelled.

Will you use A15's?
Beware of the softer ones....
I found it took a long time to realise just how much further you can go.
I went from Kumho V70 soft to A15 crossplies on my hot Impreza, quite something (nearly 3 secs at Loton)

Thought I'd sort out some tyres for my new wheels, starting with rhd racer's cast-off slicks...
PS - brings back memories of hand cutting tyres for rallycross to suit track conditions on the day...
