Spent the whole afternoon tidying the garage and washed both cars for the first time in several months......can't remember the last time I had two clean cars in the garage and could walk around without tripping over things.......I felt quite chuffed and the glorious weather certainly added to the glow :) ......

.......still wrong on a Wednesday though! :? .....

Lovely.
Best thing I did a few years ago with my 2 door double width garage was to remove the centre column and fit a roller door.

Damaged the 911 on the pillar and that did it!
Nothing better than a tidy garage. :)

Garage tidy is on my list too - however Katharine also has lists, many lists. Some of which include big projects and decorating

Deck lid grille removing bars for polishing.
911T year 1969;
Grille mesh sheet remains black.
What about the five flat bars, are these polished or should by black?

I’m no expert, but I have a few copies of the excellent 000 magazine, which in issue 011 has an article on early 911 grilles. It seems to suggest that the red car grille here is a 69E and has silver support bars.

Whereas the green car below is a 73T, which has black anodised. The text says it changed to black in 1972.

Difficult to tell from the pics I know - but that’s what it says!

2.4 engines cars I believe were black(72 and 73 ) ... as far I’m aware 69 should be polished style

Got it out of the garage, ran it to temp, cleaned the garage out a bit and put it back

I have not seen the article in person so don't know what information accompanied those photos but the red/pink 911E rear end does not depict the correct engine lid grille for a '69 model.

The '69 models had a 3-bar grille & the corresponding engine lid had only 2 'tabs' (1 at the centre top & 1 at the centre bottom) of the opening in the lid ...

.

Yes, that looks more like a 70/71 lid and grille Andy.

This is a 69

So Chrismarine, it looks like the answer from the experts is it should be silver if your car is 69, but it shouldn’t have 5 uprights, just 3. So either you have the wrong grille or your car’s not a 69!
