Something distinguished like Parker maybe?
Mixed about 20 wheelbarrows of concrete and poured on the hardcore base, so nearly there with the buried lift...
Need to just pour the lip for the board now and give it a few days to go off before painting. Oh, and a massive clean up! Looking forward to getting the 964 back and playing again

Took the 73 for its first drive of the year. Took a few goes to start, but after a few miles was purring like a kitten. Then on the open road, growling like a tiger

Bit of a non classic Porsche day today, but changed the engine cooling caps to see if that stops the slight (very) loss I'm getting. Known weak point.
Probably the 12th weak point on a modern Porsche.
Tedious having to do so much to find the engine.
To make the Lola-Porsche less of a fright in the wet, decided to find a compromise cut into the slicks to give performance in dry and 'wet' conditions.
I dropped out of 3 runs last year due to the hill being soaked. Hope this will help.

Of indirect importance...I bought a folding bicycle today ready for Le Mans Classic. All that walking to and from the circuit nearly kills me. That's assuming the event is going to happen this year, of course...

I went to see the lovely chaps at PRS yesterday as I had got my 912 heads back from the cylinder head shop after crack repairs.
At present, my bitsa engine has A case halves and super 75 heads with cast iron rocker stands, an SC cam and a SPG roller crank, with Solex 40Pii carbs... AA pistons and 1720cc cylinders with 22° piston tops to match the heads. The next stage with this engine would be to get some big valve heads, so I bought the heads very cheaply on Ebay last year knowing that they had cracks in two of the four combustion chambers between the exhaust valve and the spark plug. The heads came to be fitted with guides but two inlets were loose, and needed the first oversize. This was because someone had had a go at flowing the inlet ports and had taken a bit too much metal out around the inlet guides on one head.
I had a go at measuring the quantity of shims required for the correct preload on the valve springs, but it seemed that I would need an awful lot of 0.5mm shims go get the figures right. Time to call into PRS, where Paul showed me the proper Porsche tool for the job, and revealed that there were bigger shims available than 0.5mm!! Matt kindly measured up my heads while I waited.
I also bought the necessary hardware I'm going to need to fit the heads, and fit my age appropriate 3rd piece, so a full gasket set, and a full set of cylinder head nuts. I have also got a new set of AA pistons and cylinders with the 30° angle for my new heads.
Engine needs to come out soon, and I will be able to sell the old 22° heads and cylinders as they only have about 5k miles, so if anyone wants them, make me an offer!

I did something rather embarrassing in my 356 today...
Fired it up, fuelled it up and drove down to Greatworth Classics for the swap meet........DOH!
At least it was a good drive out.
