Your car looks great and the colour is very nice too. Must admit I am a polisher but did get fed up on other 356 cars I owned in the past polishing rust. If the car is in good condition I have to polish it
But... I also like getting in my car with its 60 year old interior including the carpets and enjoying the smell of 60 years of use. Yep, recon you are right must be my age.

Sorry to hear you have been polishing Roy. Probably good for muscles in your arms and maintaining some element of fitness. I am told if you involve yourself in furious polishing (this is not a euphemism) a good aerobic experience will result and cheaper than the gym (not that I have been near one of those). Part of transporting yourself into a nostalgic place is the sight and smell of the interior, the delicate thin rim of the steering wheel and the noisy engine along with the sometimes truculent dogleg gear box.

I wondered about that name of yours! Yes, you are correct and you gave me a laugh too. My other hobby is modern jive dancing and so many say that's better than the gym as well !!

Went to the PCGB House to a heart warming morning to collect my Long Service Award, 30 years continuous membership.
Lots of people there for the same reason, lots of great 'how I got started' stories. Feels good to be part of that Club.

Added pleasure was to see two good friends there to, both DDK members.

Busy with the Porsches this week!

Took the Boxster to Zuffenhaus for it's 60K service today.
No fuss, no bother just straight forward as usual, my new 'go-to' specialist for the car.
They did the oil, the brake fluid change and the air filter that must be really old looking at it.
I took a peak while in there doing the dreaded AOS and it was not changed when a previous specialist said they had....

Mike advised a few things I was aware of while we looked under the car.

Inner edge tyre wear on the front, some cracking of the rubber between the tread (2014 Bridgestones, none N rated) and very corroded inner disc surfaces, pads getting close.
Rear end all ok!

The car was proclaimed as 'sweet'.

Car came home soaring like an eagle and sreeeeeamed to 7500 when clear enough. (35mpg)

No AOS smoke so far so off for a few days to enjoy it and will DIY the brakes and align when fresh tyres all on in the spring.

Followed a 1987 Merc SL back oddly...

No.
Mrs Hillclimber has made that clear. There will be no SL 'Classic' in our lives.
The fate of my 'toy' car is in the balance (in my mind) and will be unchanged in hers...

The Box will go if the smoke issue comes back with a vengeance.
It could be replaced by a 981 but the engines (I'm told) are the same, but few have smoky 981's, so why?
OR
A simple low spec 996, smallest engine so bore scoring is minimised (true?), IMS's are a lottery.
OR
It goes and I live with the Skoda, the 73T hotrod and the race Lola and still fool around with stupid old bikes and die happy and richer.


We have both had enough of silly antics of the 987, so now serviced, running well, smoke-free -so-far and a few things to do on the front in Spring if I still have it.

Took a trip to Southend - managed to find a large empty space in the service station car park.

I am a bit behind on the posts but i was so excited to get the car back, i couldnt help myself. Almost 4 years in the making.......still some snagging to do and waiting for the DVLA to provide the registration details.....so frustratingly, cant drive it yet.
