I'm happy with a very slight twinge of disappointment. I kind of expected it to just get in the 50s (plus the 6%, being 53 to the buyer). But overall I am delighted to have done a really easy sale process and in short order before the winter really kicks in. Having to sell privately would have been pretty tedious. So all in all pleased. The CC guys and the auction process was all superb.

Rather embarrassingly, the GT3 has broken on the new owner. He's had a coolant pipe let go which is an engine out job I think to fix.

Is that one of the glued in fixings ?

On my 996 turbo which is the same block I had all those welded in place when we had to drop the engine to replace the coolant pipe that runs the length of the car ( it had pitted around one of its body clamps )

I thought this looked too cheap, given it’s excellent potential as an RS rep, then spotted it’s a Tip. Nice car though

Potentially a bit awkward but one of those things you genuinely can’t tell when it’s going to happen. Happened on my 996 GT3 a week after I picked it up from the dealer - luckily with full warranty.

Yes, feels a bit awkward. I once sold a caterham where the k-series motor blew its head gasket on the way to the buyer's home! That was awkward too!

I once did a test drive in a 912 for a prospective buyer and the front bonnet flew open and the brakes failed - both as we approached a roundabout - that was fun

JOOI (and if you don’t mind me asking) what do you reckon the car cost you during your ownership Graham?

I have a minor yearning for a 997 GT3 but also a sense that it’s tricky own one for much less than £7k a year.

I'll try and switch off my cost self denial filter Sam! I had it serviced twice in the two years. An oil and filter change then a major service.

The oil change done at a local to work general purpose indie was £300. The major service at Fearnsport inc the diff work, brake fluid and coolant, plus a replacement exhaust vacuum pipe and some other bits and bobs was about £2500. I also had a suspension refurb with new rear springs and refurbed bilstein pasm dampers for about £2500. No tyres needed. They were new when I got the car and the rears were about half worn with the 12k miles I did. And now I am guessing the coolant pipe fix will be circa £2k. It feels to me to be £3k a year. But the miles were all road miles apart from a wet afternoon at oulton.
