I have found it is easier to fit the top edge first, with the 'Patient Assistant' pushing the screen towards the front of the car and down as well if possible. Then the sides together a bit at a time, then the bottom edge.

It is a PITA whichever way though! And the plastic spatula thingy or similar is a must, as is an OE seal.

You know you are addicted when you start making your own Spanners...

32mm 'Thin' shaped spanner made at lunchtime...Used to nip up the Oil return reducing adaptor, and then hold in place whilst the 90degree Hose fitting is tightened...

I am happy with my custom Strut bar, I do like those Rose joints...

Thanks for the glass fitting guide chris - looks a piece of p155......

Custom tool looks good - I've got a 36mm ring spanner cut in half with the end removed

So it works on the oil pipes

Strut brace looks good ......... BUT ............ won't be much use at "restraining" any twisting moment ... will it ?? (but yes - grand for any compressive or tensile loads) hmm .............

Do you think this would be as a result of using the Rose joints, or the fact that they are threaded into the bar.

Be great to get you thoughts.

It needs to be triangulated to really do anything for BIW torsion. I've also got a similar jointed bar to yours and it does help the steering response, but it would be dramatically more effective if it were tied in properly. But then I couldn't get any luggage in so that's not going to happen!

Yep, I went for looks.....bloody designers

Seriously though, I am open to updates. I always said that the car will never really be completed.....and I do need to be able to pack my CLM tent

Megga triangulation (as pictured) not necessary (my opinion !) , but it's good to prevent twist if you can. Front end of a 911 very light (as you know) and the design was good to start with.
Rose joints will swivel (spelling ?) and as such will not transfer (and hence resit) twisting loads. Grab bar in middle and twist .... it moves ..... yes ?. Threaded joints won't be the reason / problem.

In the rally car I am building I have used a piece of steel box section solidly bolted in between 2 brackets similar to yours ... but I went to a lot of trouble to make sure the brackets were "perfectly" aligned before welding them on ... otherwise when you bolt it up tight , you simply put loads back into the structure .... not good.

Can you tell it's an engineer talking ??

Well, there will be two of us to decide if the idea works, because I've already made a similar bar with Rose-joints for my car!

2.7RS models didn't come with a strut brace as std - & the 2.8 RSR's typically had a non-adjustable (ie fixed length) tube bolted to the welded brkts.

Some even had the tube welded to the brkts ...
