Drove to Bad Camberg - 650+ mile trip from Cornwall. Amazed at how much interest was shown in the car by the Germans. Got beeped and waved at by a guy in a Ferrari Daytona and then by a couple in a 356 Carrera 2. Many German guys at the show said it was the car they always wanted to buy when they were young but could never afford one.
Up at 6am and had a wonderful early Sunday morning run out with a couple of friends. Hard to believe sometime these cars are 46 years old ... they are just so much fun to drive
MoT at 8.15am this morning.
Scooted through with zero probs.
Had the head light alignment checked after the repaint with new wings, spot on!
Used this Old Skool garage for 30 years, must be getting rare nowadays.
Renewed the insurance with Hagerty again despite the £30 higher cost. They just seem to have a grip on classics and are so easy to deal with.
Kept the £65K agreed value!
1400 miles or so in the last year, used to be about 3000, must use it more instead of the Boxster.

After all of the excitement of the Porsche at Prescott weekend, I spent the last 3 days rather more quietly putting our 914/6 back together so that it is ready for a classic run or two, and the 914/50 at Brooklands.
I had a new exhaust hanger made of 3mm stainless steel, that won't crumble to bits like the factory mild steel one!
Then I had a run into town in the evening sunshine to fill with fuel.
"What a lovely old Porsche!" said the guy on the check-out. "I haven't seen one of those since I had my Dinky one!"
Had to stop by the river for a photo on the way home ………..
Time for a nice glass of red.
Cheers!

Driven the 914 a total of 1400 miles since leaving Cornwall last Thursday, through bits of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Another 500 by the time I get home next week. Run faultlessly despite searing heat and 20km traffic jam at Hannover. Absolutely amazed at the response from people on the road - from driver of Ferrari Daytona to Mr White Van Man, endless beeping of horn and cheery wave or thumbs up. Many of the older Germans who've stopped to speak either owned one or dreamed of owning one when younger. Not seen another since I've been over other than in the Karmann museum.
For Graham: cruising at 75-80mph on the autobahn, getting high-20s mpg...
Ha! that's a good return mpg Keith.
The high Euro temperatures must be murder.
A DDK and very old friend are about to go to mid Europe for a mega drive in a semi modern but with A/C....
Wife wants to plan another trip over there soon, Austria beckons again.
Out of interest, which route did you take to get to Europe? We want to try a ferry after 30 years or so of the Chunnel (to avoid the drag of the M40/25/20)

Fitted my newly retrimmed seats, if nothing else they will be less sweaty in the summer . Just need to decide whether to do the door cards as well now.
