Booked the old 911 in for it's MoT and head lamp alignment, just over 2000 miles in the last 12 months...good going.

Changed the engine start switch on the Boxster, the one that played up on hols in France.
Not the nicest job to do with a 1,000,000 other parts in the way and cramped under the dash, but all done.

Of course, it has worked perfectly since that day....

Bought a pair of factory replacement wipers while there as the new Bosch 'super quiet' blades from Halfords are anything but quiet.
Halfords cost was the same as Porsche.

Decided I really want a 992, blue with 'chocolate' interior. Even the wife loved it.

Installed SSIs and Dansk sports muffler in place of restrictive 2.0-litre heat exchangers and Bursch 'muffler'.

Wife off out with a school friend shopping, so had the dry morning to my self.

Cue..
A morning out solo in the old 911, and out into local Shropshire.
Has been about 3 months since I last drove this car, started first churn of the lazy starting engine and with a brief whisp of blue smoke gone to kill the planet it settled to the usual 'singer sewing machine' regular thrummm. Not bad for a 150K miles old untouched 3.2.

Off towards Bridgnorth and it ran perfectly. The steering is always the thing that hits me, just glides.
The car did too and then the monsoon caught up with us so that exercised the crap wipers.
I've concluded the wipers will NEVER be any good. normal speed is just too slow and fast looks like the motor is about to explode.

Stopped by CMC in Bridgnorth, home of the Perfect Jaguars. Had a good chat to the sale people who came out to see the car and got an invite to arrange a full works tour of the facility, something I last did 4 years ago with my motor club.

Drove a further 2 miles and the roads were dry, sun was out so went to the bank to cash a cheque, I lead a dramatic life.

Car seems all ok for next week's MoT so will wash it specially for that event.
Got a buzzing/rattle in the driver's door so that will be a mini adventure for this afternoon.

Found some factory graffiti from 23rd June 1978!

'Kati' is a bit muscular for my taste, although Bootsy may recognise her..

Did a 'pre-MoT' run through the 73T this afternoon.

Nipped-up the 200 mile old front wheel bearings
Checked the lights, all working except one brake light and the number plate lights.
No plate light fuse had blown, replaced, all working.

Could not get the NS brake light to work, OS fine.
12 volts at the contacts in the housing, bulb ok too, new bulb ok too....

Side lights on, no volts at brake light contact (good) ign on and press the brake pedal, no NS brake light OR side lamp. Remove pressure on brakes, side light comes back on.

Removed the whole indicator unit and can find nothing wrong inside.

Think I'm getting some earths and powers mixing it up, so, fed-up put the car away.

Racing this weekend, so have ALL Monday to resolve this.
Good news is this is the only thing I can find that is wrong on the car.

It will be a bad earth(s) somewhere. You did have it resprayed recently so maybe some crap got over the connections, or you missed an earth contact reassembling it. If one side is working the other should be.
