Today, I took my SC to Curborough for a sprint day.





My friend Alex's 3.6 powered animal and Steve's really lovely 3.2 - it's got lots of trick bits on it.





Used, abused and put away wet - I do love that car.

Just in case I don't make it to CLM in the ModRod, I thought I should try and get some professional input as to why my red car goes through Oil like its going out of fashion. So I drove out to see a local guy who has come highly recommended as a flat-4 master. Turns out to be a really nice guy, built his first engine when he was 7 and was very thorough going through descriptions etc...Proper old school, actually more like old world...

Quick diagnosis showed that the compression on Cylinder 3 is low, the advance on the distributor is out and the right side carb is leaking....and I thought that the car went well on the drive out there






Anyway, the place is in a lovely setting with some great looking old Kafer's around... I am heading back next week to get the car on the lift and begin a proper inspection....Will go back with a decent camera, there is a '52 Kafer rebuild inside the barn !




Though I think the number plate on the Blue Cab just about sums up the state of the engine...

Pulled some bits apart tonight, still scratching head, but have an idea.

Nicked a sump plate and got an MOT

Put my generator, with correctly tighten fan, back on. I thought that I was becoming quite good at this but ...

Unfortunately I dropped one of the bolts/screws which fasten the fan plate onto the fan housing and dispite 15 mins of hunting, with a keener eyed teenager, we couldn't find it! We even tried dropping the washer from the same position to see it's random path (which actually wasn't that random), then pasting a magnet over the floor/engine bay but still no luck. Hopefully Mrs B can locate a replacement today. Looks like it might be 5M thread with 12mm length?

However, I decided that changing the oil cooler seals is beyond my time/comfort level so I'm booked into a 912 specialiist to do the job for me. My normal mechanic was quite honest said he didn't have the kit to test a 912 oil cooler. Fingers crossed that it is really just the oil cooler seal as sometimes when you start looking ...

Changed the oil in anticipation of CLM.....

Every day I add courage to take the 911 to SPA in Sept.
Never taken it abroad.

Managed to scrape some paint off my rear bumper in the car park at work grrrrrr

That pot of red looks like the perfect colour match

Shall I ask for Noddy Red when I go and buy some paint tomorrow?
