Petrol tank finally fitted, and thankfully it is still aligned with the bonnet hole.

Made up a 'Clamp' to hold the spare wheel in place. Currently thinking of using the heavier 15-inch space saver to give some balance to the Lightweight front end.

But couldn't resist making up a spare wheel/tool roll holder on a quiet Friday afternoon at work

Looking very cool Chris - great alignment on that peters cap. Will you be fitting a holey bracket to it to let you unscrew it?

Thanks Mark

I think I will run the cap without the Fin, for abit of security.

Ok, I need to open the Bonnet to fill-up, but for some reason I have a paranoia of some Rogue dropping something into the tank. I can get enough grip on it to turn without the Fin.

Maybe you can adapt one of these somehow? I had one beneath the flip-up cap on my through-the-hood filler on my Carrera:

Always good meeting up with old Friends...

On Thursday David Hanning dropped in to say hello....Who is David ? The story is that I bought the Grey car off David back in 2007 in Portland USA, I had previously bought the set of Fuchs' off him which are now on the red car. David transported the car to my house free of charge, and when the time came showed me how to set up the Welder to get me started. A year later, when I was getting ready to move back to the UK, I sold the original Wings, Bonnet, Decklid and my Welder back to David.....and passed on some Welding advice

So yes, the guy above is responsible for getting me in this mess :)

We have stayed in touch over the years, and shared many ideas. David decided to come over to Germany this year as part of his Self-Birthday present and visit Relatives he has here. After visiting Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, VW Factories and Museums, he found time to drop in to say Hi.

An afternoon of Coffee ( Tea for me ) and cake, with an evening of German Beer, Steak and much Car chat and Tyre kicking inbetween.

Abit of a personal story I know, but I like it :)

Cheers
Chris

Is that David Hanning 'earlyaircooled' on Pelican ?

If so I've traded parts with him loads of time over the years - definitely a good guy.

Talking to previous owners, tracking down past history etc is part of the magic of classic car ownership imo…

…cool story, thanks for sharing. :)

This Lunchtime's mediocre task.....Accelerator rod, guide bushings for the centre tunnel.

10 euro each from Porsche.....Or 1 euro for 3 when using Hard-Rubber Home brew bungs, and then whittled down on the sanding wheel

I am not cheap, but every little helps :)

We used to freeze rubber in liquid nitrogen then turn it very accurately in a special techniques department I worked in as an apprentice...happy days..but in this case the sanding wheel is adequate and VERY cheap....
