Wheels make a car, and that works so well.
Not quite in my Car, but met MikeyC today at Race Retro. Impressed to hear what he said about early 911's and how he described things, looks like I've met the next Bob Watson.
Not too far to get to him and small enough to care and be hands-on.
Like that in a Specialist.
A pleasure and a privilege to meet you too yesterday, Graham. Many thanks for the kind words, it's most appreciated.

Went to see my RS for the first time since Mike Champion at MCE completed the repair and respray after my Bruntingthorpe incident last September. Mike had it at Race Retro on his stand and it seemed to be attracting plenty of attention. Mike also had his own blue SWB there as well. It coming back to me in a transporter after the show when it finishes today. Next stop LiegeSofiaLiege rally (which neither starts in Liege, nor goes to Sofia, nor finishes in Liege - have they no shame !!)
A 1958 Porsche 356 A Speedster sold yesterday for £292,500 at Race Retro Silverstone Auctions !

Been busy in the garden today but managed to give the garage a sweep and tidy whilst the 993 is away for a few days

Your car looked well Andrew on the stand, did not know it was yours and you had used MCE.
On the Friday MCE seemed to have plenty of interest from the Public, hope he had a good show.

Fabulous weather today, dry salt-free roads so a good time to give the 911 a short run to find any snags after the re-build.
First issue was the gearchange!
Would not go into 1st completely, jumped out when the clutch was engaged.
Slackened off the adjuster and re-aligned everything and that was fixed.
Off towards some local green belt to meet the school run armada rampaging everywhere, so the run was a bit short.
The door mirror is useless, can't see a thing behind me, so something to be done (bent) to improve things.
Forgot what these early cars are like to drive.
Sheer heaven, totally analogue, totally engaging.
Especially when you have the 2in-3 out wide open.
Washer jets were new so needed re-aligning with a sewing needle, done and when home checked the lights, one headlamp not working..
Helps if you actually plug the loom into the bulb.
However, that is it, it runs great, just need to fix those things and find a 70 mph patch to see if the wheels are in balance.
Love the New Look with the silver Cookies!

Looking good, Graham!
Took new discs, drums, rear hubs and a set of studs up to Chris Rudling at Carbon 12 Racing to drill for five-lug wheels in readiness for arrival of 914. Fuchs ready to go off to Art Restoration in Strasbourg for refinishing. Had chat with Chris about maybe prototyping a four-pot caliper conversion for 914s...

Thank you all for the kind words on the car.
After all the diy suspension efforts of last summer, it was just too tall, so while the car was in pieces a few months back dropped the car by 20mm, and it is just where I want it!
As to the plates, I started to get some confirmation from PCGB on the car in prep ofcontacting DVLA for a period related plate.
That was met with a deafening silence, so just carried on with the plate given it when imported.
It was great driving it today, a piece of magic despite its history!
Hope to have another go on Thursday, taking it back to the painters.
He asked to see the car when done.
