Not meant to be 'Spot the Difference' but caps now on the Cookies on one side...
Still looking for 2 caps like the picture.

Great drive out today with PCGB to the Cotswold Gateway Hotel at Burford where I met some rally friendly people. It was a good outing and possible through beautiful countryside on near empty roads. What a joy it is to avoid queues of 35mph SUVs on 60mph roads.

Getting used to and loving the 718 with its almost motorbike overtaking ability.

Got it frosty ......

Decided to fix two things today.
1
The wing/door panel gap on the driver's side of the old 911 was FAR too wide and it has been bugging me since I installed the wing, so resolved to close it by 2mm.
This would still leave a gap to the swage in the out sill rather than a touching fit with the risk of paint chipping.

Slackened all the bolts off, the head lamp bowl and the A pillar splash plate and put a Stanly knife through the terrible mastic as much as I could, and separated the wing from the inner wing about 8mm.
After that pain I stood back to see how the wing fit was expecting the panel gap to be much larger.

To my surprise, the gap had closed the 2mm I needed! Why that happened I'll never know, but the bolts were done up quickly.

Looks much better and the small filler strip at the windscreen scuttle is super tight now.

The car needed 2 centre caps for the 'new' Cookie Cutters; got fed-up trying to find some used ones below £60 each so went searching the net.

Surprisingly, Porsche Shop had a pair at 1/2 the price of Design/Type 911, 20 minute drive later they were mine. Painted and on the car by tomorrow tea time.

A good day and worth while doing.

Ha, funny isn't it, our need "improve" our cars. After I sold the 930 Backdate last year I bought a 996.2 GT3, Its an amazing car and I love it, but it's low mileage so I can't use it as much as I'd like (3000 miles last year) and I certainly can't (won't) modify it. So what did I do...

Went out and bought another car that I can mess around with... (lucky enough to be in a position to keep the GT3 though).

Agree entirely - I was in a similar situation many years ago when I had a 924 Carrera GT - great looks, performance, comfort - even a fair degree of practicality & even economy (considering the performance) - but that was the problem ... it did everything too efficiently.

A bit like being in a high-speed inter-city train - you arrive without having made any conscious input or having any real sensation of speed.

Far more interesting (for me at least) to be driving something that requires a bit of effort/input.

Tick it off the list & enjoy the search for its replacement ...
