Well the DVLA managed to add a little workload to my already busy life.
The car was insured and MOT'd (as confirmed by Big Brother's computer) but I couldn't tax the car online because the computer said it was 'Private Light Goods' and not 'Historic' tax class.
It turns out that the last time the car was taxed predates the new computerised system and their records needed updating.
That meant a trip to the local DVLA office (Reading for me) to try and get it resolved.
I got my knuckles rapped for not declaring the car SORN these last couple of years. Ah well, sticks and stones....
Good job I didn't try driving the car before I sorted these issues.
Anyway Swansea will now send me a fresh V5, not like this:

Obviously I wanted 'historic' status so there would be no tax to pay.
In fairness, once I got to the office, they resolved it quickly and I got my disc.
Legal now.
It turns out the car has been off the road since early 1988!
Which means it was already riddled with rust after only 15 years on the road.
Mind you, Nick observed, in those days they were rusty within 3 years.
And, I have to admit, I'm old enough to remember new cars in the early seventies, they did rot quickly.

Hmmm, that was another amendment to the V5.
The colour was listed as black so I got them to change it.
But to blue? or green? or turquoise?
So we followed the decision of the MOT tester, he'd decided it was blue.
So, blue it is.

Really enjoyed this thread Paul, stunning car and fantastic work by all involved. Looking forward now to seeing the car with it's white livery in some typical, quality Ferryman shots!

Well Stephen, as you'll recall from the poll conducted, white graphics was the choice of 65% of the respondents, so white it is.
I've got the stickers, I should find time to fit them over the holidays and I'll post some shots.

Yes, well it's not bad I suppose. He does an half tidy job that Nick fella.
Time to get cracking on that 2.7 Carrera now then, eh?
And you will be needing a bigger shed to put them in.

The pictures above were taken some time ago before we set the ride heights and did the geo. It also has different rims on the front now.

I think that now it's actually a little high at the front.
All these things can be tweaked once things settle down so lets get some miles on the clock first, but currently, (and after the photos above as Nick said) the 'stick man' confirms my car to be approx 24.5" to the rear arch lip and 25.5" (maybe a shade more) on the front.
Technically that sounds about right. The stance is OK but would be improved and the arch would look a bit more 'full' if the front was, say 0.5" lower?

Driving impressions will follow but here's an interesting observation.
I can stand beside my 2.4S, turn to face the door and then, grasping the rain gutter, try and shake the car side to side.
It moves, not freely but with some effort it rocks with a fair bit of travel and whilst it settles quickly it moves sideways a few times.
In contrast the ST is much firmer, hardly any travel and it stops immediately after force is applied. Most of the movement actually seems to be just the tyre side walls.
The ride is firm but not uncomfortably so. Very nice.
As an aside if I do the same exercise with my 993RS there is no movement at all. Nothing. Solid. Firm as a rock.
The ST is nearer the settings of the RS than the 2.4S.
