Just to let you know, Ian’s funeral will be at 11:30am on 14th July at St Mary’s Church in the Lace market Nottingham. He’ll be buried at Tithe Green which is a lovely meadow/woodland about 10 miles north of Nottingham. The Wake will be at the Fox & hounds pub in Blidworth. Jack is hoping to get a procession of early cars following the hearse - Jack will be driving Ian’s car. I’m sure anyone who wants to pay their last respects to Ian would be very welcome. If you want to join in the procession of old cars then PM me as there may be some logistics in joining up with the hearse after the ceremony (which is in the city centre)

I’m out of the country then, so sadly can’t be there. I hope lots of others can be.

OK so some logistics for anyone coming to Ian’s funeral

I’d suggest you park at the stoney street NCP car park
On Stoney St, Nottingham NG11LS - it’s a short walk from the church

It won’t be easy/possible for us to all leave at the same time as the hearse so we will all regroup with the hearse at Ian’s house which is 417 Mansfield Road Carrington Nottingham NG52DP.

We’ll then head out to Tithe Green which is at Salterford Lane, Calverton, Nottingham NG146NZ

And finally the wake is at the Fox & Hounds pub, Calverton road, Blidworth bottoms NG210NW

Hope all goes well Mark, I would like to be there but a lack of 911 at the moment and work commitments are getting in the way.

I will see some of you tomorrow. Any recommendations for dress code ? I can’t imagine Ian wanting a sombre affair.

There will be some wearing suits but with informal shirts, and no ties. I’m going dark jacket and chinos with a linen shirt and boots as I don’t own a suit

I think fairly smart but not overdone would be the pitch.

A wonderful day with wonderful weather and fantastic friends.

I will miss Ian more than words could ever say but we sent him off in a style that he would have been immensely proud of and with a huge grin.

He loved DDK and the friends he made here.

It was a big part of his life.

As Mark said, it was an honour......

Jack drove them both behind the hearse all day and the car was parked at the entrance to the Church during the ceremony.

A sad day for you all but what a marvelous DDK tribute for Ian. The Porsche convoy with Ian’s lovely S heading the line was a fitting send off. Touching indeed. I’m sure there were many tears.

It was a great send-off for Ian. The eulogies were all individual but all expressed what a lovely guy he was.

On of Jacks friend then sang 54-46 was my number (Toots and the Maytalls song) and absolutely smashed it.

We carried him out to Starman by David Bowie

After collecting our cars from the car park we regrouped outside Ian’s house and brought nottingham traffic to a standstill.

It was a sad but excellent day. Ian would have loved it.
