I did these a few years ago (and I feel bad, because I can't remember who for)...914EV project.

Still has potential I think, if only for the logos...

Chris, Think that might have been for Jonny Hart? Jonny certainly has a 914 EV project on the go.
Cheers, Richard.

Chris, yep that was me. The project is due for completion March time and will certainly feature some of your graphic input.

Interesting point, that may be a possibility in 15 years. But i don't see the long term benefit of converting cars to EV, as this uses the same principle of cost saving man maths that people did back in the day putting small block Chevys into mid 60/70s exotic European cars or Beetle engines into their 356. The addition of this generic form of propulsion is only good if it is not part of why you drive it and not as a unique experience in and of itself.
People did this because this was their daily driver.
One should also consider the factors that fuelled the aircooled 911 boom, its that now more than ever they look, drive and sound unique. People aren't driving them as just a car anymore, its become fashionable.
If I hear another w%%ker in some Singer 911 Petrolicous Youtube type of video telling me how the ashtray sized fuel filler cap that covers a motorbike key lock in the centre of the bonnet is race inspired, making the simple act of putting fuel in your car an almost theatrical performance I will scream.

Well I drive my 69t because it is utterly brilliant to drive. I spend zero time contemplating what it is, 100% on what hanging on to the steering wheel feels like!

I drive the Zoe because it's there and it gets from A to B.

Well I’m having my cake and eating it. Petrol 911 is the big journey and event car. 914 EV is the daily hack for picking up parts (2 boots) and getting chips.

Jonny... can you run the 914 through the business as a company car then with zero personal Co car tax ? Or is it a company demonstrator?

Anyone can buy a company EV on a business and it is a 100% tax deductible business expense with reduced BIK. I’m looking at buying an EV Van this way.

Not sure how I’m going to declare mine yet.

I appreciate that as I run our hybrid and thought about fully electric through my co ... was wondering if you’d got a way of being able to show Hmrc that a home grown / converted classic can be classed as an ev like a Tesla or I pace is for the purposes of BIK ? I don’t know what documentation etc Hmrc would require

Just thinking out loud here .... by BIK rates are based on official distance travelled on electric so I’d have thought it would need some kind of verification?

My experience is that HMRC are pretty pragmatic and sensible on these things. I got VAT inspected a few years ago and they said I shouldn’t be claiming all the VAT on mobile phones as there was bound to be the odd personal call. I suggested I claim 80% of it, they said that was fine, didn’t ask for proof or owt, just agreed that was reasonable.

For the first time ever, our EV has done more miles than my car - scratch that, all my cars put together  - (Covid driven largely, granted) and the range is increasing now it’s warmer.

I know the electric / classic debate has both supporters and detractors, but Moggy who used to be of this parish has his own TV show starting on Quest on 25th June, called Vintage and Voltage I think. Credit to him, great advertising for a fairly new business, and may be interesting for those in either camp

Here's a trailer for the upcoming Vintage Voltage series. An assortment of cars are on their Instagram including Porsche and Ferrari, so they'll likely be featured on the show too.
