Good day out. Car safely with Angus at Greatworth. Many thanks to Angus for receiving on a weekend. Hopefully, later this week, some answers will be coming about why the brake pedal disappear. Brake fluid still in reservoir. I jacked the car up and some fluid on the master cylinder but not clear if water from the road or brake fluid. No obvious leaks from elsewhere. However, hard to tell at the roadside. Need to add strong touch to emergency kit that I carry.

Of all the times that it could fail thank goodness it wasn't on one of the many hills we drove over!

Bummer - but as you say could have been much worse!
Looks like Angus/Greatworth are becoming the DDK drive breakdown centre- Jaffa 911 went there when fuel pump failed on DDK Jurassic run

Just spoke to Angus rear brake cylinder failure. New cylinders found, brake pads about to be ordered. Although a simple hose replace would of been cheaper. Strangely relieved that it wasn't me that had done something stupid but a little confused as to how they failed.

I’d imagine the cylinder just failed from age/wear and tear Neil, when were they last replaced?

I have receipts from a brake overhaul done by Jack Staggs (one of the legends in CA). I will check back about the cylinder (and date) but everything looks in very nice condition on the inside of each drum.

Did both cylinders fail Neil ? Which component was it in each cylinder that failed ? Both the same failure or different circumstances ?

Important to know exactly what went wrong in order for you and others to avoid this sort of thing in the future.

I've asked Angus to hang onto them so I can investigate
