clearly ur rubber lip was in better condition than mine ! Cant find replacement and superglue does nt work!

The speedster was out this week end , roof down ! Its another world , pity we got it just b4 the winter .........not as hardened as u Jocks!

been having much fun sorting Sons '65 SWB ,become almost totally anal on detail ..............thankful to those on here for their assistance , especially Garry of Visualfx................even Jason been useful!

Try to get em all out for decent run as often as possible ,then hose down and leave for another break in weather

Vic,

I checked with Porsche and the rubber lip seem to be available, downside its £340. Mine will be going back in with some seal feed.

Love all this stuff. I do like a good engine bay.
Can you remember where you have hidden all your cars?
Cheers, Richard.
Thanks Richard. Its not so much remembering where they are, its getting them taxed, serviced and the MOT done!

Cheers

Tom

thks Tom its a couple of years since i checked .........mine is kinda split on 2 corners but when lid shut still reasonably doing its job getting cool air in.............still might consider it ,top of my list is the air con fan under the passenger foot board ..........similar price ,been on back order 12 months ! i think the bearing s worn , makes awful noise but does distribute the air .............

I need to be careful not to go too far. I think longer term the air con radiator at the front will need changed and some other issue like that, my aim is to get it mechanically and cosmetically as good as it can be without going daft.

This was a slightly unwelcome surprise but I think I am becoming desensitized to rust....the Alfa and the E have seen to that.

The cavity for the nearside rear shock has seen better days.

....other side solid.

...local Lithuanian welder called in.

Currently getting as much of the rusted areas exposed and wire brushed, any areas showing wear or failure of the undercoat on the body is getting chipped off ready for POR 15 rust treatment then I will spray these with Kent rubber guard. Ultimately I intend getting the whole underside coated out for full protection. Just making the most of the opportunity to get the harder to reach areas treated while the car is stripped.

....and back to more pleasing images sent on to me today.

Some further progress. Delighted with the way the air box looks, decided to replace the stickers rather than try and reuse the old ones.

The suspension has been freshened up as well, stopped short of bringing these into the house for any pictures.

My car spent a considerable period of time unloved and by the looks of things pretty damp at times. Door cards are swollen and need replaced, more annoying the bexels on the dials are corroded. These need to be fixed.

Not sure if anyone has used this or not before. It works wonders on plastic lenses. No more swirls. Used it on a couple of watch faces in the past, very good and cheap.

Some parts ready to go to the metal finisher. We have a small bead blaster at work for spark plugs and other items. Handy piece of kit.

Inner bezels came up really well.

Image

Outer ones are good as well.

Image

The intention is to get these sprayed professionally and see how they come out. The inners are no longer available but I have managed to source NOS outer Bezels from America. These might be better having never been fitted and should give a new look seal once they are finished. I will see how the original ones end up from the painter and can always sell on the replacements or keep them as stock.
