If you use photo bucket, after you have loaded it you can click on one of four tabs - the bottom one should say url. Just click on it and it should then read 'copied'.

Come on here and right click and the url bit is done for you automatically using this method.

You are right there was one N/S door (the most complete one)



with a number 059 stamped on it



The other fairly good condition door had a number penciled on it -



I know Porsche did write on some panels in the early days
it looks like ?020915



You are also right Nick, the nitromors only removed upper paint layers

So now there will be lots more pictures!

Now I find posting pictures is a cinch let's take a look at the Gearbox

First the numbers
On the bottom of the gearbox is 901/02 and 103044


On the side 22/66

Interesting numbers on the box. I think we can say we both have original boxes to our cars.

Mine is dated 28/66. (28th week of 1966) and number 103145 which all ties in nicely with yours.

Yes, it does appear that the transmission is the original. It would appear that the 901/02 transmission type was intended for 911S use only.

Hmm, if that was 1020915, then it could be a production # from 1972, but I cannot think of what else it could be.

I wouldn't be surprised if the door is from a 1972 car as it is in significantly better condition than the shell. The owner seems to have assembled various parts to renovate the car between 1979 and 1983.

Here are the carburetors

I am finding this fascinating - I'm sure all you experts know this but I am learning as I go. The code from Weber is confusing

40 IDA3C and 40 IDA3C1

The prefix 40 is clear, the prefix always indicates the size of the throttle plate, so these have 40 mm throttle plates

The suffix (following the prefix) is IDA. The I in IDA seems to mean invertito, or inverted. Yet, there are no up-draft, or inverted Webers: the IDA is a downdraft. Other even less-consistent single-letter designations are: E - Die-Cast carb F - Ford (or Ferrari?) application V - carb with a power valve A - Water-operated automatic choke.

The D isn't DC which would mean doppio corpo, or double-throat, so what could it be? A isn't water choke.

For IDA's, there may be three, as well as two throats, on these there are three throats and there is no choke at all.

Then the following the suffix letters are variations of the basic type, There is a 3C and 3C1 so is that variant number 3. Can anyone explain the C?

The later 67Ss had 40IDS carbs, which had an additional tube injecting fuel into the top of the venturi at high speed to lower piston temperatures at sustained high speed. I have no idea how you decipher the codes apart from the 3 referring to the numner of chokes and the 1 designating a left or right carb.

If they are original there will be a little 'S' engraved on the front body somewhere in the region of the top of the return springs.

I think you can safely assume they are original to your engine and the car.

So, complete matching numbers, engine, gearbox, chassis, webers.

What about the date stamp under the steering wheel on the hub?
