The final parts of the new heater tubes were fabricated and welded in to the new frame pieces by the torsion bar
As previously shown in the heater tube / longitudinal area I have used POR15 to seal all the metal, as well as Eastwood rust protector, Now this might be a bit of overkill, but I am determined to fight off the tin worm. So, all the interior panelling has been done before satin blacking the top for the correct finish.
Shame really, as it has finished up with quite a good finish, and certainly in keeping with the exterior colour which is silver. The wheel arches will be finished tomorrow.

Well done so far on the resto, I would love to do this, But i did it the easy way and gave it to Roger Bray, a very expensive process and certainly not as rewarding as doing it yourself.
Cant wait to see the finished car.

hi james looking good now, after looking at this section on sat i looked at your car and thought i knew it , after our bit crack on the phone its great to put some light on one of the previous owners up here in the north east.
its hard to think how well the car looked when you see all the ripe metal and mutty that was holding it together, really looking nice now though makes me feel like pulling mine to bits but i think i will just stick with the beaten up old look thanks peter

Stephen, your car is simply

worth it I'm sure - I cant take all the credit for the work so far I'm afraid - Lee at Autoclassica Bodyworks has done a cracking job

of turning this back into a straight rust free shell. I tend to cut bits, drill bits, buy the panels, paint underseal, roll fags and any other non welding / metal forming task

It doesn't matter who's taking the credit, the end result looks great

Hi Peter - yes great to talk and to find out a bit of the car's history. Turns out the car was owned by a couple of owners in the North East between Dec 1993 and Sep 2000 and Peter remembered the car from its reg

Yes very happy with results although bank manager isnt.
Am using the car most days come rain or shine and really enjoying it.
What color are you going for and are you keeping it standard or slightly outlawish?

No outlaw I'm afraid, it will be stock as a rock - SWMBO (who's name is on the V5) has insisted
911hillclimber wrote:Have you chosen a colour yet?
The original colour is Glasurit Metallic silver (only had 3 layers of paint on it when stripped and all silver - no colour changes in its history AFAIK)
Its been 3.5 years since it had any paint on

Hi
has your car got American bumpers as it seems to have the holes for the brace bars in its bum but not in the front panel, Bill.

With time on my hands I've had chance to re-visit in depth the goings-on in DDK that I previousyl skimmed over.
This looks tremendous James and will be a beauty to behold once it's completed and is returned to its' previous glory.
