Just one or two DDK'ers wanted to come along then

I've got some ideas for the accomodation & hopefully will have news on that soonish. It's not as easy as you think to find nice hotels with enough rooms at the right price :drunken:

Finding accommodation for us all has turned out to be a nightmare !! I must have spoken to around 20 hotels today !! All the places I had thought of using were booked with Weddings  , or were charging well over £230 DBB  I like my luxury, but that is too expensive for this kind of event. The only other option was to split the group into different hotels, but then we'd have lost the atmosphere that makes these DDK events so much fun :) Anyway, it appears one night only stays for over 60 people need to be booked a LONG way in advance.

So, after spending all day on the phone to various places I have finally found somewhere for Saturday night 8)

This is a hotel that satisfies all our requirements :

good hotel
good price
can feed us all at the same time :)
has a good bar ;)
large secure carpark
located at the edge of the dales

What you all need to do now is BOOK YOUR ROOMS DIRECT ASAP with the hotel. Remember, this is for the SATURDAY night ONLY.

All details can be found in the member area :

I'd rather all details of the hotels, routes etc was kept in the members area , so please no posting about the location in this thread :)

Details of Friday night hotel to follow once I've had a rest

Put me +1 down for the Saturday only (booked). We will probably stay somewhere on the way up (coming from West Wales) on the Friday night and back down on the Sunday.

I am not yet a member though so hope the rooms don't go - will sort out the membership now.

Neil

p.s. oh and I need to BUY a car too :D Will definately happen I am 30 in October and I have promised myself a present, booking into this event will make it even more of an incentive.

EDIT - membership sorted and just booked Sat night at the hotel :)

Really disappointed as I'd persuaded Nik my wife that this would be a great weekend but I've just realised that I've agreed to do a ten-countries-tour through Europe with the Triumph club on the same week.
Hope you all have great fun

FWIW...

I can HIGHLY recommend the pub in Hesket Newmarket at the top end of the Lakes. Visited when I cycled through there a couple of years back en route John O'Groats and it was our best night.

B&B nect door was no great shakes by comparison but the pub rocked (went back last September and it still rocked)

Co-op pub with i't own co-op brewery behind it
