Ok, get your drinking boots on its nearly party time

16 all booked and deposits paid for the Xmas dinner, but of course anyone welcome to join in for great beer on the night! (Youngs)

So what time the early birds thinking of starting (Viv) 5-6pm? Dinner at 8pm

The Orangetree will close at 11pm and chuck us out by 11.20pm so carriages for then.

Jeez - what happened to this drinking Nirvana we were all supposed to experience now with 24 hour opening!!!

5-6 sounds good to me.....I've got a lunch 'do' in town so will prob head str8 from there

Just a quick post to say what an excellent evening this turned out to be -
great company, excellent food, ample drink & top organisation on the part of Mike...

Highlights of the evening :

James (23e Heure) 'premiering' his Classic Le Mans DVD
Paul's (Ferryman) unexpected 'goody bags' &
Mike's impromptu Awards Ceremony

I'm sure that Viv (who flew in direct from the US especially to attend) will post a picture or two in the morning...

Well deserved congratulations to Paul Ferryman for winning the "DDKerOf The Year" (as voted by the Southern division

)
The posters and torches were a welcome distraction.
And Charlotte rallied to a well deserved first place as "Driver Of The Year", for her barefoot derring-do at LMC

Fantastic evening and DDK style good company.
Let's see some photos -why did no-one seem to have a camera!?

Mike's impromtu awards were great, and all VERY deserving winners too.

Well done Mike/Viv. An excellent evening. Good turnout too.
Shame my cab turned up early, seems like I missed the awards.
Thanks for the Le Mans footage James, that bought back some happy memories.
Can't wait for the DVD, put me down for one.
Now we can look forward to the Scotland trip.

Charlotte won 'Driver of the Year' for her barefoot Le Mans performance and generally 'spanking" her car, as one DDk'er described it

Nominations in that category included James (23heures) for his braking tactics at Arnage so avoiding rearranging the shape of my ducktail, and Alam for his general driving standards on the Kingston by pass for which he is currently helping Surrey police with their inquires!

Barry won 'Thread of the Year' for the TR restoration and his general knowledge and help, and it had nothing to do with the fact that he was driving me home!
Nominations included Nick Moss for his contribution to the Road pricing debate, with his revolutionary idea of pricing everybody else off the roads so he is the only one on them! and Viv for being the Fairmile meet organiser with his reminder posts of the meets, he would have won, had he not gone off to the US and left me to do it!

And finally the big one..... the inaugural DDK'er of the Year, the 'GOLDEN SPROCKET AWARD' went to Paul (ferry man) for his contribution throughout the year including the fantastic grill badges, the key ring for charity and of course the Christmas card to everybody

He nearly didn't win it mind you, as he buggered off while I was paying the bill without saying goodbye, and I missed out on the goodie bag

Anyway Viv stood in for him in the photo and Jonathan has taken the award home to pass on to him.

Merry Christmas all and 2007 is shaping up to be a vintage year, can't wait.
