Engine out this week for a thorough service and to hopefully sort a couple of oil leaks and gear selection issue...

Image

...Gary Cook kindly called in to lend a hand....

Image

...the car had developed an issue with difficulty engaging gears which was getting progressively worse, this turned out to be a cracked fork which had started to bend meaning the clutch wasn't engaging fully. This is a simple fix although unfortunately there was evidence of gear oil in the bell housing which means a strip to rectify so the gearbox will be going to Mike Bainbridge next week....

....wasn't any luckier with the engine either as there's a leak from the nose bearing which I could live with although it won't cure itself, this means another strip which Gary kindly said he'd take care of at GDC Automotive. Very good of him consider how busy they are......hopefully I'll have everything done before Christmas with the plan to sort a rolling road session with Nick Fulljames in January to get the car set up and ready for 2019....

....I've been a tad unlucky with this engine but it is a glorious unit and has given me plenty of smiles too......looks damn sexy too! 8) ....

At least it's winter! :)

Cheers,

....no idea Winston as there was nothing there when the box was split.......the thrust bearing was also loose so wonder if there may be a retaining spring or similar that had come away?

Cheers,

Stopped at Caffeine and Machine http://caffeineandmachine.com/about-us/ en route Bantry IE > Banbury UK via Snowdonia, EVO triangle and Lake Bala yesterday.
Great spot 6 miles SE of Stratford upon Avon on A422 Stratford- Banbury- Silvertone Road.
Phil and his wife have converted a grotty pub into a motorhipster hangout par excellence bar, cafe, hangout, gallery, hotel - ideal spot for a gathering ( see my note on DDK swap meet)
Just go- it’s great!

Jaffa is now with Angus and his excellent team at Greatworth Classics for winter work, including some more custom touches , a new ECU chip and dyno run- I’ll be stopping in again at C&M on the return run- so Phil can do another Pic of Jaffa 2019

Removed the left hand floorboard and adjusted the clutch slightly.

All is well.

Done nothing for my Porsche today, but have collected the remains of Tim69S engine to give it a new lease of life as a coffee table being created as part of my sons A level product design course.

Many, many thanks for this, we really appreciate it Tim ImageImage
