I popped to Tesco’s ... love this car

Drove mine to Waitrose today and the b@stard p1ssed oil all over my good suede shoes and new bell bottoms.

I only just fitted a new tach cable seal and shim recently... and so that hasn't worked.

Nothing worse than driving along with your heel slopping about in a pool of engine oil on what were your nice clean coco mats.

This evening I'm left wondering how painful it's going to be to fit a new tach cable and clean out the rev counter itself.

How much oil have you got (or did you have) in your tacho cable then ? !!

Went to Brands Porsche Festival!

Took Mrs R as well, had some hospitality provided. Made a really nice day!

Lots of moderns, not many longhoods.

Did enjoy the races and the the 919 evo was simply amazing. Apparently hit 191mph. Nick Tandy has significantly more talent and larger gonads than anyone else there I feel.

Also had a real nice chat with Richard Attwood, ever the gentleman and still out racing, drafted in at the last minute and really enjoyed himself. Respect.

Been having same problem with mine--knackered 2 x tacho's.

Over in France for a small 6 day road trip in Brittany and the Loire valley.
Couldn't resist staying in the fab Hotel de France by Le Mans for 2 nights...
Terrific meal in their resturant tonight on a balmy September evening...

Bit of electrical fault finding on the 69 car. Recent engine build ended with the cold start enrichment solenoid (on the MFI) disconnected, because engine builder and his auto electrician couldn't get the car to run with it connected. Since the other two cold weather compensation schemes (does it really need three??) were already absent on this ex-race car, it was a bit of a pain to start.
Long story short I found the fault, and along the way decided to make a bit of an improvement. The solenoid is usually operated via a temperature sensor and time switch, and the system as a whole is a bit complex and not super-reliable. So I did a (no wiring hackery) mod to operate the solenoid from the drivers seat using the redundant rear wiper switch. Now I get to choose when the start scheme needs the MFI rack at super-rich. All good clean fun, and very satisfying.

Thanks Kirk. But only do-able on a '69 pump, which has the second solenoid for enrichment (as well as the one for cut-off).

With that said, because I'm not overly keen on the thermostatic enrichment that all the pumps have (ugly as hell, fails if / when the hose fails to deliver appropriately warm air, I prefer to know whether or not the extra enrichment is in play), I'll probably use a manual cable to operate that mechanism on the 70 car. Have bought a little gadget from the States to use as the basis.

Tomorrow something a bit less nerdy - the car should be ready for a run down to Revival.

Spent the afternoon as a guest at the Britcar Endurance race at Snetterton. A friend owns Britcar so being as we are 20 mins from the circuit he invited us over for some hospitality, watch some racing. Go out on the track in the safety car etc. Few other series going on today too including Truck racing and Legends

Kirk, similar design, but I don't think it's a Supertec one.
I'm not sure of origin, think I bought it from some dude at the LA lit meet or Anaheim.
I'll email you a pic.
