I also installed a Tangerine Racing shift rod bushing. This will be a nice improved over the original. After installing the shift rod through it there's zero play, nice.

I also started work installing the heating and fresh air system. I won't fit the rest until I install the wiring loom next week.

At some point in the past a new trunk lock had been fitted but hadn't been keyed to match the car. So I set about rekeying it so it was functional. A fiddly yet rewarding job. I've not idea what someone had previously used to lube it, but it's safe to say they hadn't used the right thing.



On inspection the button part was a bit corroded and it turned out cheaper to have it rechromed rather than replacing it.





And finally after 13 years my trunk can now be locked

And just because I wanted to see what it would look like I temporally installed the rear bumper.

It all looks great!

I finally finished off the loom renovation as I needed to get that in the car before I got too carried away fitting shiny bits.





All the way through to the front...

I also started on the soundproofing.

This is going to be the cleanest, neatest 914 in existence! Nice work.

Awesome work. Just one thing. I think the rear bumper looks wrong. Can you just send it down to me, along with the front one, so I can check... I'll need to install them on mine, but I can send you my US-spec bumpers in their place. Deal?

I just read this from the beginning, all 29 pages. Once again I am blown away by the skill of you DDKers. Absolutely amazing, Stephen. I love what you did with the fuel gauge and jack.

BTW, Tangerine Racing is maybe 12 miles from me.
That material in their shift bushing looks to be exactly the same color (colour) as that used in Rebel's suspension parts. John.
