Cheers Gary, unfortunately I'll miss my target date now due to the paint taking a lot longer than planned. However I'd like to hit the road before the end of the season if I can but have couple of big ticket items still to buy and an empty wallet

I'll say it now though - it will be at LMC next year! After 14 years of ownership it's way overdue!

It's really looking great in silver!

If you are planning on putting any wax protection on it, I'd be tempted to do it before you fit too many parts - makes it easier.

The fun part is always refitting all the nicely restored parts - enjoy!

I'm with Andrew, wax all the panel return edges before lights etc in.
I waxed mine twice while assembling and then the rest of the body after a very careful wipe-down of the garage debris that accumulates during the re-fit.

I also shot many fasteners esp those under or behind the wings and things as I went along with a Waxoil type spray when nuts were done up.
Such local patches will hold dirt and grit over use, but corrosion is kept at bay.

A bit of progress over the weekend. It's so good to be at this stage now.

Started off with getting the sway bars fitted. Originally my car didn't have either so this was a must upgrade and will transform the handling. Having driven James GT with this setup it's night and day compared to how mine was.

For the front I've got a 19mm Weltmeister bar. The only modification I've made is to add a collar to stop any potential lateral movement as I've seen a couple of cases of this happening in the past.





For the rear I've just got the factory 16mm bar having installed the mounting tabs months ago. I'd heard stories of how difficult a job it is to install the droplink bushes and I can now confirm it's an awful job. It'd been easier installing a square peg in a round hole. Glad that's ticked off.
