One of a new batch he's not quite finished, still needs the A/B stamp (and 13° stamp on the plate) and plastic lugs on the left side. Ben showed me what's to follow and as with all his stuff, they look exact…..Nick will help with final set up.

Well it's been two and half months since the Mongrel returned from Barry and during this time it's hibernated under a cover in a corner of the workshop gathering dust……a busy bodyshop and a guilty conscience halting progress!

But no more…..this week the project was woken from its slumber and from now on it'll be all systems go!…..

….great to look back over the fantastic detail Barry has put into this car….weld spots a clue as to the bracing lying beneath….



….and wings removed giving a better view of the excellent detailed strengthening of the inner front wings….




Talking through details with Rich renewed my excitement prompting a number of messages and calls to gee up those involved with the project and jolly things along.

One of those people is Gary Cook…...I was introduced to Gary through Nick Fulljames at Redtek Engineering who describes him as one of the most knowledgeable early Porsche people he knows, and a Porsche restorer whose work is of the highest quality that's equal to anyone's…..recommendation enough for me!

Gary Cook is one of those people that slips under the radar, I'd never heard of him…...however he had seventeen previous years at Autofarm before going freelance and these days works for many very well known early Porsche specialists and a number of private clients building everything from rally/race cars to concours restorations and all in between.

Although he wasn't initially keen on getting involved, not wanting to upset his trade customers, I persuaded him to have a look at what I was attempting to do with the Mongrel which fortunately got him hooked……Gary's one of those people, like Nick Fulljames and Barry Carter, that has an infectious enthusiasm and real passion for what he does ….he's a top guy that has brought a number of ideas to the project and he'll be helping me with everything from suspension, to electrics, the 930 twin cylinder braking system, to dual front oil coolers etc etc etc…..all the time ensuring everything is kept looking period and pre 78….

…really excited that Gary will be adding his experience to the cause and although there'll be no rush, pleased the project is back up and running.

Now watch this space! ……

Great stuff and will be really good to see the "old dog" coming to life; "more than the sum of it's parts" springs to mind... more than a Mongrel for sure.
