Just re-read what I'd said about center gravity - I've since followed their advice and tightened up the rear adjustable anti-roll bar. I'm loving the handling now - that seems to have returned the balance that was lost when I installed the LSD. I'm feeling I can deliberately unsettle it in corners (by flooring it part way through) and it just copes with it beautifully

Got directed to this thread from the IB site. After reading the first page I realised I'd already read the thread about five years ago. WOW.
I'm not really sure what else to say. What an inspiration! I'm toying with the idea of backdating a 74-89 car and this thread is an absolute goldmine of information. The car looks fantastic and your perseverance is incredible.
I re-read the entire 27 pages in about three sittings. Must have taken close to an hour in total! I'm subscribed now but am kind of sad that it's finished!
All the best
Stuart

Thanks for the kind comments Stuart but its far from finished:-
- Bodywork now needs redoing - new wings, sill repairs, and rear wing repairs
- Replacing bonnet with carbon one
- Centre fuel filler on bonnet
- Interior needs carpeting, more soundproofing, backdated seats, considering backdating the instruments
- Roll-cage
- Planning on replacing the rear bumper with chrome overriders
- Switching to coil-over springs at the rear, with mounts strengthened, replacing the rear torsion bars so I can reinstate the bodywork
- Newer custom backbox from turbo Thomas - one that let's my wife ride in the car without getting a headache
- Replace engine with a 3.6, ideally from a 993 - which in turn will need a fresh exhaust solution
I'm loving the journey - I get an equal buzz from working on it, driving it, and looking at it - good luck with your own - I'd recommend getting your hands as dirty as possible.

You'll be OK then!

Slight update...
I've had a number of comments over the years about my poor brake lights - particularly from other DDKers on trips when 'pressing on'. Last year I replaced the bulbs with LEDs which made them a lot brighter - good news all round. However on the recent North Yorks jaunt I once again received a few remarks about them not doing a great deal.
Fast forward to the classic meet at Dongont and i was taken with this ovely early car

and in particular I liked the the racing brake light on the rear parcel shelf
So I recently bought one from Maplin and then over bank holiday week-end made up a bracket (with holes) to hold it in.
I'm quite happy with the result (thought I may shim it to make it more horizontal) but it has highlighted that my brake lights don't come on when I first press the brake pedal - I have to press quite a bit down before the light comes on. I'll post a separate thread asking for help on this issue
While I was at it I installed a sticker I bought a few months ago, shamelessly copying pictures on ddk of an orange car that does a lot of trackdays - I just love the sticker so much as I remember the tiger in the tank campaign

And yes I know part of it isn't level.

Your sticker isn't level - could you get to CofG to get the level right?

Picky buggers!
It's actually set so that with my eight in the drivers seat it is perfectly level. but then I can't take the picture....
It's hard to get it level when you're putting it on as you're bent double and looking up at an angle. Needless to say you only get one shot to do it - peeling it off isn't an option. I decided I prefer it wonky to not at all - I'm calling it patina.
I can't remember where I got it - took a while to find it and it's an original 70's one as opposed to a repro/reprint
