new Submariner case looks more balanced now as well

Yep..the slimmer lugs on the new Submariner are an improvement in my opinion.

I have got my name on 'the list' with my AD for the new green bezel Submariner 126610LV although I suspect it will be a long wait!

I agree, never really came to terms with the big lugs.

Looks awful, like someone's filed off the ends of the lugs just to give a designer something to do. It's an iconic design why change it, bit like squaring off the corners of an RS ducktail..... !

mike, thats true compared to the pre ceramic era cases , but the outgoing current Sub with ceramic bezel's case has imho not been a good look with way to fat lugs .. this new 2020 onwards redesign is starting to return the case to the more traditional look.

Difficult to photograph with the phone, but to me it's the compound curve that makes up the transition from the side of the case to the lug that's one of the most beautiful elements of the watches design.

Yes, I was comparing the brand new Submariner to the outgoing 'Maxi' case which Rolex introduced on the Submariner in 2008. Whilst the Maxi case measures the same 40mm in diameter as Mike's watch the case wears completely differently on the wrist (because of broader and fatter lugs, a wider bezel, and a thicker overall profile. The watches that have the Maxi case are perceived much larger than its predecessors i.e Mike's watch), even though on paper, they share the same diameter. I have cribbed some pictures to try and compare - the first picture is Mike's Sub, the second is the now discontinued Sub with Maxi case and the final picture is the new Sub (the diameter has increased to 41mm but the lugs have been slimmed down from those on the maxi case).

interestingly, having finally got to the top of the list and picked up my new non date sub last thursday, it's now obsolete....!

I quite like the revised case/lugs.
But 41 is too big for me so I’ll stick with my 2006 (also obsolete) Kermit

I wear as a daily a mk1 dial SD50 so the new sub will wear well for me . From what I’ve read, the new watch actually wears more like a 40mm anyway ( there seems to have been a few of the new kermits already collected )

I know nothing about classic watches, so some help please.
As a gift I have an Omega 'dress watch' simple, thin and for special occasions.
I had it from a watch restorer from Stow in the Wold who I yet to contact, I think it came with a 2 year warrantee, need to check when I can, but before that would like to understand what might have happened today to the watch.
It suddenly lost 10 mins this morning, never done that before, so I reset the time and noticed that at 9.00oclock the hour hand was lagging by about 2 mins of the 9 position as if it was 10 to 9.
This lag has continued all day though the time has kept accurate.

I will let the watch wind down before contacting the restorer to see what he says, but I expect him to agree to fix it.

The watch is in a stainless case and is late 60's, sold as fully restored, cleaned and new crystal.
It has never skipped a beat, I don't wear it much, just on special occasions.

So, any thoughts on possible failures so I can compare to the restorers comments?

If it was serviced when you got it maybe the hand is slipping?

Yes, all serviced, new face etc and has been perfect since I got it until this morning.
No knocks etc in my possession

I suggest that something has broken inside so best to have someone look before running again incase more you cause damage?
