Started stripping bits off my car to help out go a bit faster on the track.

Need to make a decision on some new lighter seats too.

Anyone got any experience of these types of seat ?

I haven't seen those before, Stuart. As with any competition seat, sit in one first, and make sure you are comfortable.
Check that you're happy with the construction and strength, there's no requirement for FIA seats in Speed events.............yet! Also check the measurements carefully, as the 914 is not the easiest of cars to fit aftermarket seats, especially if you're tall and wearing a crash helmet.
Hope to see you at the Harewood MSA Leaders round, May 6/7th

Cheers!

Dropped the engine and gearbox on the hillclimb car. Checked the triple-plate clutch - we hadn't looked at it since it was fitted several years ago  - it looked as though it had been fitted just a couple of months ago - result!!
One of the stainless steel headers had cracked at the 3 into 1 joint, I've just looked up, and it was fitted in 2001, so I don't suppose I can complain. :) Just a few little jobs to do around it, then hopefully everything will go back together next week-end.
Starting to get excited again! We decided to enter the MSA Leaders championship this year, so will be travelling further afield, hopefully including right up to Doune in the frozen North....................... :bounce:

Cheers!

Thanks for the advice JW! Measurement wise those seats are OK - not sure on position etc especially with the rib that runs across the floor. Might have to see if I can take the car over to them to try one for for fit.

I'm on holiday until the 6th may but will come and say hello on Sunday hopefully!

No, down here at Wiscombe Park for the week-end. Much more laid back than up in the Cotswolds, and a nice pint of Otter or two to finish the days!

I would. I've seen a few sluggish 964s come to life when all 12 plugs were made to fire properly.

This is on my to do list, I am pretty sure my 964 on her OG 1989 wires fires on somewhere between 5 and 8 plugs most of the time.

Berny how easy is it to change them with the engine in? Which leads did you use? The price has come down since the old days I think, for a generic set off ebay. But maybe they are crap..

If the dizzy has had a drive belt in the past and has the venting kit I would guess you'll be ok. Its not an easy DIY, I think Porscheshop (randomly) did mine very reasonably, but several years ago.

Hi I used Beru leads caps and rotors and Bosch plugs from Euro car parts, I removed the pre silencer and the third silencer not to bad to do on a lift but would be much harder on the floor not a two minute job about 5 hours. mot this week and then I will do the dizzy belt when I get time it does have the vent kit fitted!

Modified my Rennshift gear change on my 73T to make it a touch more civilised in traffic.
Rennshifts come in Short-Shift or Super-Short-Shift designs and the effort to change gears increases...
So, simply add an extension piece to make the lever longer. Hope to try it soon as paint is dry. :)
