Fair point Keith but it torqued up fine - got the reassuring click from the torque wrench
It's nearly 3 years since it went in so it could have been gradually working out over that period of time - driving it every day.

Does that mean you haven't changed the plugs in 3 years of everyday driving ?
Would have been an opportunity to treat it to a new set ...

That's right. I may do a new set prior to Spa along with an oil change

Meh. You lot are so particular.
I accidentally stripped one of the plug threads in the head of my Beetle when I was 20 so just hammered and glued a plug in and only changed the other three at service time. Ran fine for 5 years.

Love it.
At the moment I am mostly rebuilding the indicator mechanism on my cab with the help of superglue.

Update on this - the tickover is now much smoother and the engine definitely has more oomph - result!

The engine protrudes past the line of the deck lid so running without one for the moment. Eventually I want to have one shaped from carbon fibre to accommodate the bump but the doors are next in line. Had the bonnet done in carbon a few weeks back and it turned out beautifully, shame it costs so much

Booked the car in for a external windows out bare metal paint job in cellulose (I hope) to match the colour when I painted it in '89.
Very local to me, good guy with lots of years under his belt.

Today I scooted the 964 around my local villages between seeing customers.
It's embarrassingly, pointlessly loud with the new G pipe. They all commented.
Turns out I already had a bypass for the first silencer, so it's basically now unsilenced.
Tomorrow I will be putting the second silencer back on and will have a Dansk G pipe for sale with about 40 miles use on it.

I have asked Gary @ GDC to take off my scoops. Yes. I am taking the scoops off the SC - and the fat ass overriders. And putting some fog lights on, as well as getting the gear linkage bushes changed, the sunroof fixed and some bonnet gas struts fitted.
No scoops..... sorry Mick. They're staying proudly on the targa though.
