I hated doing mine too! To be honest once I got into a rhythm it wasn't so bad. The results make it worth it though.

A day of mixed feelings today.

When I got up this morning I was so excited to see the car with some colour on it. The drive over to the painter seemed to take forever. When I arrived the car didn't looks as I'd imagined it too, in fact it looked exactly how I didn't want it to look and I must admit I felt sick to my stomach.

At first glance I simply didn't like the colour, it looked so creamy and nothing like I remembered. We immediately got the spray outs that were done and compared them - perfect match. I then realised the lighting was awful and I needed to see the car in daylight. After moving a rather nice early 911 out of the way we wheeled my car out into the light.







Outside the colour looked much better and indistinguishable from a sample of the original paint.

Months of build up and I'm now at home hoping I've chosen the correct colour. Not how I expected to feel.

It will look perfect, and you know it! Let's put it this way, if you don't like it, send it down to Cornwall and I'll take it off your hands.

Juts caught up on this thread - fantastic work. Can't wait to see it done.

I reckon as soon as you start getting some contrast added in the way of trim, seals, wheels etc the colour will 'pop' and you'll feel a lot better

As James said the enthusiasm will come back once you put some bits on it.

Have you got some nice wide Fuchs you can balance under the arches? That should do it!

I like it.....love the pale creamy tones....

Thanks guys. You're all probably right but right now I just can't convince myself and to be honest it's driving me a bit mad.

I think I just need to prove to myself it's the right shade. I've got the option to pick up 23e Heure's old Light Ivory engine lid so I think I'll pick that up for comparison.

Pull yourself together man! Light Ivory is supposed to be creamy... but it's a sweet cream, not a sickly one!

So unconvinced by the colour I drove to London yesterday and picked up James old Light Ivory engine lid so I had something else to compare against.

This morning I drove an hour in the other direction to the paint shop.... The engine lid matched.

Right now I really need a sunny day so I can get a good look at the colour. The lights in the spray booth make it look like a nicotine stained door in a crack den!

Ummm, silly question probably, but how do you now what colour a door is in a crack den? Just asking for a friend.

Oh and get a grip. You creative types - Sheesh! You see too many colours. I can only see about 8, and 3 of those are blue

Looks far from that colour in you pictures - maybe there's something wrong with your eyes
