Fitted new seat belts, rubber seal on the front badge, new to/from oil filter housing lines and put too grill badges back on the targa

I pulled myself together today and despite my morbid fear of being crushed to death by the heavy end of my car, I embraced the gearbox from below and removed the slightly effete, retrofitted high torque starter, which despite being very well behaved for the last four years, has recently developed some rather annoying habits... and replaced it with the original Bosch, with which the car was born.

My, what a difference.

Turn the key now and rather than sounding like a Suzuki, the car sounds like... a Porsche. Bosch starters, it seems, are tuned in the same key as a Porsche engines.

Marvelous.

All is well.

Been propping up the bar with an old guy who worked alongside Rolf Wultherich, James Dean's mechanic on that fateful day... OK, not exactly working on my car, but inspirational...

Took mine for its MOT, which it passed

270 mile round trip on Friday to visit the Sage of the Lakes and to call on hot66 (James was out - missed him by 20 minutes!). So good to be out and about in the Rep again....

Been playing with my wheel bearings and other odds and sods today .... Had some really good test runs out today and it's feeling back on form

Saturday, Took my Gearbox to Mike Bainbridge.
Diagnosis took seconds....
I put the 1st gear on wrong, I'd set the selectors wrong, but the the main problems were worn bearing, worn synchro rings and weak detents.
I've left it with Mike.....
And then the fun started on Sladeys oil leak !

About to go Suffolk to London
Hopefully quicker than the other direction in Friday PMs traffic - though I did discover 6500rpm in second which is dangerously addictive

Got the clutch working, fitted the driveshafts, piped the flapper boxes to the heat exchangers, made myself look an arse with Revo (hope the spring works, good to see you!) and started (well contemplated) putting some power in the electrics...........

I will drive it soon!

I had a nice visit from a friendly guy in a yellow Porsche to help me get an engine started.

30 minutes of fettling and it roared into action

His car was suitably caked in grass and tree blossom as any good Porsche should be......but the less said about the interior the better
