Next step is relocate the fuel pump – Crispin listened to the pump and we concluded that it's cavitating badly, which would probably account for the fact that when the engine is under load, it will only run at a tiny throttle opening. I had to drive the 16 miles there and back in as high a gear as possible and letting the engine 'torque' its way along at low rpm. As soon as it came under load, it would act like it had run out of fuel. At Crispin's suggestion, I'm going to move the pump to the front to see what effect that has.
But it has an MOT...

Most efi pumps (with high psi) can't suck for toffee and need to be fed fuel by gravity or another pump.

Well the pump solved itself by dying today. Tim impmad Bennett came all the way down to Exeter today to help me get the car sorted (BIG thanks to Tim!). After a frustrating day spent sorting niggly little problems, the fuel pump seized solid and that was that. Crap 'Bosch replacement' pump from a leading supplier... Prior to that, when Tim tried too download some driver software, the laptop or software wouldn't talk to each other. Car did drive a little better but still a long way to go.
So, no Hedingham for this car, then. No chance to get the problems sorted and ECU mapped, UK registered etc... Oh well, such is life.

Tim Impmad Bennett doing what he does best...
Said he was trying to get this to run properly...
But really all he wanted to do was see how quickly he could drink his cup of tea!

Shame no Heddingham for the car Keith, can't help thinking what a palava, lap top etc etc to get an early car to run, its the reason I like classics because theres none of that nonsense, I went PMO carbs, sweet but 911 also won't be attending due to a pulled stud

so I guess were both up sh*t creek !
Maybe we could make 1 good set up from both cars
Keep soldiering on
Steve

Cheers. That's OK for carbs, but engine is running EFI, so needs 3+bar fuel pump. Will be using Bosch (genuine this time!) unit for Carrera 3.2.
