Yes, Mike but we know about the authenticity of some of the exhibits in the Porsche Museum ...

Fun for all the family - get yer kids involved - it's spot the difference time!
1. I'd spotted the difference in the tape font size and was about to make a smartarse comment but I see you're already onto that on. If you're just lacking punctuation I bet you could recreate that with a hammer and sharp implement from the rear of the tape (centre punch for full stop, flat head screwdriver for dash)
2. On the Oil temp guage it's OEL, but on yours it's OIL
3. What are you going to do about that orange/redline on the rev counter?
4. The tape on the dash pad (bottom left) - was that unique to this particular one or a 'normal' thing. If it was repairing a crack, would you feel obliged to recreate the original split before repairing it?

5. On the hockey puck could you age that by alternately covering it with salt water and hair-drying it/freezing it? (dunno if it would work but the though of you doing all that would keep me amused throughout the winter months)
If anyone thinks I'm being pedantic, just read through the rest of this thread

Hi Mark, thanks so much for your input, if I could address your concerns in order:
1. Will continue to search for an authentic 1973 dymo tape machine but failing that will resort to the punch and srewdriver technique as suggested.
2. Anyone got a German language oel gauge?
3. A mechanical tacho as fitted is on my wish list, and I have even been offered the original RSR tacho drive housing of the cam. The problem is the cable runs out the top of the dash on the passenger side over the underside of the roof and down into the offside seat pan, it was bad enough drilling a hole in the speaker grill, but to drill one in the perfect dash top, could I do it?
4. The tape is holding on the fire extinguisher tubing which is yet to be plumbed in. I've actually got an original heinzmann extinguisher pull knob for where the ashtry goes and have recreated the original stickers for the extinguisher tank, still looking for the correct tape though.
5. Taking on board your thoughtful suggestion of the salt/freezing technique for the wheel centre, will coat with salt and bury under the 6"s of snow in the garden at the moment, will report back.
Thanks again for your very kind helpful observations. If in future you should have any more suggestion, I would be very grateful if you could keep them to yourself!

Would you like a hazard warning switch with a white triangle? Can't say it came out of an RS or RSR but it is gen.
You'll be wanting a correct ignition switch and bezel too?
Interesting the 'original' car has a 250 speedo and you have 300

and Mike, I can supply you with one of those yellow plastic key fobs that the original has. It's genuine, NOS and very expensive.

I have a feeling from the Past .. that the stickers will fall off in the heat.
Ex Lucas test car problem, as I kid I went what's this do and I had a goowe mess on the end of my finger and a sticker on the floor

Dad not amused.. Glass should be ok..
looks good.. I could make up larger letters on my vynal cutter, cut out an oblong in satin or matt back and then make them totaly to size if you want..your welcome to come and play with the machine your not going to use much material with those, plus you can make spare then..if your this way.

Fitted a pair of RSR A-arms, which actually are just modified standard arms, that have been seam welded along the edges and on the anti-roll bar drop link bracket. These replace the extended arms that were on to give it the negative camber, not needed now with the coil overs and the adjustable camber plates.
Needle rollers replace the rubber bushings.

Hi Mike, it's on the list for fabrication, unless you have one for me of course!
The brace bar is actually the easy bit, already have the long base stud made for instance, but we are working on the tricky bit at the moment, it's the oil pressure sender which has to be relocated in the crankcase to allow the brace to fit. It comes out the case and is turned on it's side to allow the brace to go over the top of it, some pictures below from Jim Calzia.
So not quite as easy as just the support bar!
