The Abarth was just beautiful wasn’t it Andy? I’m not sure I’d ever fit in it though - an exquisite little gem. And Graham - we’re only as old as we feel. Following your (and Keith’s) brilliant examples I’ve just asked Simon Blakeney Edwards to prepare my Frazer Nash/BMW 319 for me to take it up the hill at Vintage Prescott next year. That’ll ensure that its old hillclimb history matches its new experiences!

Hi Jeremy, if you’re going to compete next year, you should apply now to Motorsport UK for a competition licence. They are making it more awkward for older competitors to obtain (or retain!!) their licence, so you don’t want to leave it until the last minute in case they ask for medicals etc. Check with Patrick which licence you need for VSCC Prescott.
Beware!! It’s an addictive pastime!
Cheers
JW

Thanks for the tip Jonathan, I’ll get on with that. It might become addictive - I went up a couple of times in the GT3 (non competitively) and that’s not stopped me wanting to do more..

VSCC will get the juices flowing for sure.
Watch out for tyres used (if that applies to VSCC).
Getting the license may (?) be easier when you have been doing it for many consecutive years, so I think Jonathan's advice is very wise.
I recon about £1000 to get you on the start line. (helmet etc etc)
Prescott's Driver's School is very good.
I did 'my day' in 1990, bit more comprehensive now!
Met a few people there and some have been friends since.

Just to get back on topic I enjoyed the show. Bigger than previously and I didn’t end up surrounded by Morris Marinas which depresses me and makes me wish I’d played more golf instead. The seemed to have more ‘modern classics’ for sale than I remembered previously which I didn’t mind.
The target audience was defined by the stalls - replacement radiators next to stalls for miracle muscle cure and altzeimers charity.
I arranged to meet Jonathan (jtparr) and we had a very enjoyable few hours wandering round and catching up before splitting up and going deep geek.
If I’d had the energy I think I’d have paid to wander round the auction cars - always more interesting when you think you could drive away in what you are looking at. However after about 4 hours I was knackered and went home.

I didn’t go but watched Harry Metcalf's review of the auction cars. Quite interesting prices on some cars, E-types have softened quite a lot seemingly, tempting….
