Big shock to hear this, thanks for sharing Mark. As everyone has said...Ian was a such a nice guy, very sad indeed. I had many great conversations with him over the years the years, knowledgable and a good laugh.

......that was 12 years ago now and just like the time when Sladey ran into him (whilst others will never let me live it down!), he was as cool and calm as can be even when he discovered I'd forgotten to put my car in gear or apply the handbrake on the ferry crossing!

Looking back through photos of our trips yesterday you forget just how many times you've been away with people......Ian may now be gone but the laughs and great memories we shared will last with me forever!

I was so very saddened to hear that Ian has died.

Being relatively new to DDK, I only met Ian for the first time at CLM 2023 and then again at C&M over lunch during the DDK weekend last year but such a lovely guy, time to chat and talk about our cars despite his cruel condition. He will be greatly missed.

I'm just catching up with the sad news of Ian's passing. I met Ian first as part of the "Nottingham massive" DDK meet in The Hut, in Ravenshead, with Sladey, Nige and all the rest of the gang which must be somewhere in 2007, as Sladey had one of his engine rebuilds ongoing and Ian was helping out. I always thought these two were joined at the hip, but it turned out they lived a few hundred yards from each other and Ian happened to have a shortened 32mm spanner that Sladey needed for his oil thermostat or somesuch.

We then connected at CLM 2008 and a few more DDK drives, where it was rapidly prevalent to get ahead of him as that 2.2.S was running rich back then. But catching up was easier said then done.

As Ian was an architect, I met him a couple of times when he was visiting clients in the place I then worked: Hexgreave hall. He often took his 911 so it was easy to hear him arrive . My then drinking hole was the Walton's Hotel in The Park, and would you believe the coinkidink......

In the later years I wasn't that active in DDK, but as I am usually running late in most DDK organised events, it turned out handy as Ian had broken down and I could swoop him up during a DDK yorkshire drive in 2015. We had a great time and he was a very competent driver, even though it was a in a bloody C3 targa. I had to give the OK to let rip but once that was all sorted, .... yeah, he could drive for sure

Luckily, I saw him and the old lot - and some new, memorable DDK members- last year at the DDK weekend, and very nice it was indeed. RIP, Ian: one of us, but never forgotten.

Very much saddened to hear of Ian's passing. Was at J Parr's this weekend and only a few hours earlier had learnt that Ian hadn't been well.

Ian was one of those wonderful people that added a fantastic warmth, texture and depth to our little clan and never, ever failed to raise a smile throughout, whatever the circumstances.

Will be very much missed, but oh my word, will be remembered so fondly by so many which is a wonderful thing when the times comes.

I don't think I knew Ian, but if he's been such a good friend to all you guys, I'm sure he would have been a friend of mine. I lost another friend to MND a couple of years back - such a cruel disease. RIP Ian...
