DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

The old exhaust had holes in it so I replaced it with a a Dansk. The strange think is that it went on ok and it looks like it has sealed onto engine. Even spaced extra. I maybe kicking myself because I haven't tried to reseal the ports at the front yet.

How will it look if it has been leaking?

In the registry they are raving about Remflex Gaskets but I can't find a supplier in the UK. They are only $28 but I can't find postage for less than $50! However, PRS who I bought the gaskets I'm using from I'm sure have connected many exhausts onto engines!

Apart from that after all the work I did with tuning the car is running very, very nicely!

I guess soot or evidence of burning around joints, flanges.

No answers today. No leaks near the gaskets. Spent some time looking at the a/f level at Greatworth while driving.

Apart from the back firing the car is running well and Greatworth agreed.

Stupidly when I got home I decided to change the plugs and wires. All ok but then I took of the left carb and lost a spring.

The car ran horrid but then I used a spring from a pen and got it working again but not as smoothly so need to buy the part

I just did a similar job with replacing my J-Tubes Neil. Dropped the engine on to the trolley and had it back in again quite quickly. I used the single/flange Porsche Centre-supplied $6.00 gaskets, after trial firing the new Dansk tubes to check for fitment angles on the heads. Used a little hi-temp gasket sealant as well. I was advised to never use double gaskets. Cleaned the exhaust stud threads with a die. No more leaks and cinched up the brass nuts after a couple of days running to endure they were tight (they did tighten more). Also replaced the tired circular clamps on the pipes. Huge difference. Spraying some soapy water around the joints can highlight an exhaust leak.
