Stu, you previously mention that your's had year of manufacturer 68. ? There is nowhere on the current V5 that has a column for year of manufacturer. Was your's also in column 3 special notes.?

Not having the declared manufactured year looks like the problem, can you get the V5C amended with that info added then try again? They will then have something to work with. HTH.

That will be my next move. Try and get it mentioned on the special notes, section 3.

Give it a week and they might be feeling more upbeat as I'm about to send them £50.

Apparently I shouldn't have cancelled my insurance when I sold the car, I should have waited until they sent me an acknowledgment that the registered keeper has changed, then cancelled.

We have always sent them a new MOT with any application for historic status. That way they are confident that they are dealing with a complete car and not a pile of bits. They can always ask to inspect the vehicle but its rare in our experience.

I claimed historic/tax exception when my 911 became eligible.
It was built at the factory in Feb 73.
I had no probs with that. It has been several years since trying to get an age related number, might try again.

If you have date of manufacturer in section 3 special notes, you might be in with a shout.

My 71 Targa V5 states date of first reg14/11/1983 date of first reg in U.K. 14/11/1983 special notes 3 was registered/ used overseas. Declared manufactured 1971 I have had the car since 1998

I can throw your car up as an example and question why i have no mention in the special notes section.

Latest news : Received new V5 with the date of manufacture inserted in section 3 special notes. Try again as i now have something on the document that refers to it's age. No luck. Appealed decision. Verdict..... No change, they were the rules at the time.... Bastards.

My car was not taxed or sorn for the 5 years prior to me putting a short age related plate. When I purchased my car the sorn system was not used - maybe that is relevant?

I wonder if Porsche Club GB has a 'marque specialist' who is authorised by the DVLA to act as an intermediary in matters like this - maybe worth investigating ?

Whilst we're on DVLA - does anyone know whether I will need future MOTs for my car. I will probably get one, but do sometime forget by a month or so and once got fined, so I thought I'd at least apply to be exempt so I'm safe if I forget. I did go to the Post Office - clueless. I spoke with the DVLA who said that it happens automatically if my car(s) are historic vehicles - which they are. So, is this correct? Is it automatic - so next year I won't be asked for an MOT? Or tax? Or do I have to do something?
