I really liked the orange targa you did a while ago Jon and I'm sure this will be another great looking car. But if it turns out you have some chartreuse left over from the turbo and you put it on this.....it'll be my nose thats put out of joint

Don't worry Mick, I haven't decided on a colour yet but it won't be Chartreuse! Swinging back and forth between an older Sixties colour or a modern metallic....

It's been a while but we have slowly moved on with this project in the background.

Next stage was to remove the badly rusted crossmember



The panels available now have a slightly different profile so it was modified to reflect the earlier shape.

Next step was to backdate the front wings using an extension panel





And once some epoxy primer is applied you'd never know!

A common complaint with a targa is the weakness of the shell in comparison to a coupe. To counter the lack of a roof we have constructed a strengthening frame and second floor skin, this should resist the targa shells' tendancy to twist. It does add some weight obviously but at least it is low down and should be more than compensated for by the removal of the heavy impact bumpers, spoilers, seats etc.

Wing modified to take forward mounted oil tank.





However the larger seatbelt pocket in the inner wing and the larger kidney bowl meant the oil tank would not fit so these had to be altered, no easy task with the rear wing already on...

Another change is to blank of the righthand battery box and convert it to a duct for the oil cooler.







Seam sealing the panels before stonechip coating. Dull but necessary as the stripping process removes all these protective coatings from the panels.
