As I said I just don't have a jig nor the confidence to straighten correctly

I've heard these cars can be a bugger to get straight so stupidly put my confidence in someone I'd been assured was 100%

I was wrong and I've paid the price ...anyway I'll add some more pics tonight and a bit more of the story

I think you would have done a better job with a straight edge, a couple of lasers and a tape measure! Best of luck with recovering it, and as everyone has already said we all love a good rebuild, diy or pro!

Anyway ,,joking aside I was very upset and was really ready to just cut my losses and get rid

I saw an ad for a coachworks in Oxfordshire and saw that they did some porsche bodyshell repairs so I decided to give them a call to explain what a cock up I'd ended up with

The owner of the coachworks explained that they did a fair bit of work for Autofarm and had straightened plenty of poorly porsches including some RSR . As luck had it they'd had a cancellation for a job .One of their guys was going to be twiddling thumbs for a week or so as there was another big job due in,,but it wasn't due for about ten days

The very next day I arrived in Oxfordshire so they could assess the work and see if they could untangle the mess and turn it around in the ten days they had ..it was on the understanding that they straighten the car ,, replace all panels affected , but that I would still have all the smaller welding jobs , but on a straight car !

Even just loosely fitted to the celette jig it was obvious that Mr scunthorpe hadn't a clue ,,take a look at the pigeon welding too, so the guys decided there was nothing for it but to chop it mg][/url]

She was finally in good company , sharing her evenings with a couple of t35 bugatti and a bentley dhc

The work looked great and I only had about ten days to wait to collect it ..oh yes and ten days to get the money together to pay for it all

Needless to say I spent much of my time on local street corners for a fiver a go !

I hope Cunthorpe Man sees this and knows that everyone is wishing bad things on him. Tonight I will be praying to Our Lord the Saviour that his shop burns down, his wife leaves him, and his nob shrivels up and drops off.

Good work on getting it sorted. Seens Autofarm straighten a very mangled car - previous owner of the business but probably the same crew and on the same jig. It came out nice.

And don't worry about people criticising your work. Lots of DIYers on here. No-one is going to slag you off, and there's lots of knowledge available if you get stuck.

The MGA looks fantastic.

As far as I'm aware Glasurit don't supply a 2K product in this country........Octoral HS is a great choice and the 018 shade is a perfect match to an original sample. I can help if you struggle to find any locally.

Yes it was Chesterton ,,,,,,when I arrived I was told to go see the young guy in the far corner .....I think he was in his 60s lol

But I've got to say the work is excellent and the attention to detail impressI've ,,,,and of course my tears dried up
