Sorry to hear you had problems, but as I'm about to put my engine back together this is very interesting!
Do you know what brand the 'OEM' gaskets were? And what dimension is correct?
Based on this I might go and buy some more gaskets!

Gary,
Gasket set was from Victor Rienz, who I believe developed that type of gasket.
Can't remember the size for sure, it's on their website.

As is mine!
Thanks for the tip. I'll buy some Porsche ones to supplement the kit.

Not at all what you expect from the OEM (& such a well-known) supplier - have you reported this problem to them Tony ?
Hope the engine proves to be problem-free now.

Spec on the website is 4mm and the ones I have are 4mm, however they do look quite different from the parts that were on the car.
The groove in the top of the cylinder is 3.36mm deep, the crushed used one is 3.5mm (as you might expect) but the spring looks smaller and a finer wire. I've no idea of the origin of the used parts.
Measurements seem to all stack up so I'd be really interested to know the measurement of the incorrect parts.

It's with Gantspeed, will try & find measurement, they've been in touch with VR but so far no response.
Fingers crossed but so far the engine's good.

Many thanks Tony, sorry to derail your thread with talk of gaskets!

No problem!
This thing has come off the rails regularly but hopefully we've cracked it now. It's some slight comfort to be able to flag this sort of thing up on here. Its all to easy to take for granted the information source DDK provides.
What the hell did we do before?
