To elaborate, here's what I've bought / probably bought.

1) A Car. For now I'm going to keep quiet about this one. Deposit paid etc but to get to completion of the transaction there's some mechanical fettling of a newly-built engine, a rolling road session and a full inspection to get through. To avoid getting too excited, and in fairness to the vendor in case something doesn't work out, I'll wait until we are past those hurdles.

2) A Project. This has very few of the characteristics of a car, in that it doesn't go or stop. It more closely resembles a large number of boxes of bits, and it's rather inconveniently located. ebay rush of blood to the head, I fear.

Finally had my CSL drive on Saturday morning. Dan scared the beejesus out of me up until we broke down. Turned out to be a faulty fuel sender and we had only run out of gas so, after an emergency delivery, we took off again and I had my turn. Ride was far more compliant than I thought. The gear change when pushing on is brutal and I can't believe the car could stand such punishment but as Dan said, 'it was designed to do that...'.
