Lovely. Excellent on the steels... how about white behind the horn grilles for that scallop to flow or is the blue reflected on the chrome there? :cyclopsani:

The photo of the front mocked up was taken before the blacking was done behind the horn grilles - I'll see what it looks like now with the satin black.

You maybe correct though?

The Torq Thrusts came home from some machining and will now hopefully fit on the 911. As some of you on here will know these wheels can be a little tricky to fit on a standard narrow body car. There is a good source of information here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/forums ... ORQ+THRUST

Firstly I had 3mm removed from the back mounting surface to pull them in slightly.

Image

I then had the mounting holes enlarged from 17mm to ¾” – this meant that I could fit larger ¾” sleeve wheel nuts. The original ARE M14 17mm sleeved nuts were prone to breaking due to the very thin wall thickness. The picture shows an original (rare) 17mm sleeved nut on the left and one of my modified ¾” sleeved nuts on the right. The new nuts have had the ends opened up and the sleeves shortened to suit the skimmed wheels. I have to get the chrome stripped and the nuts replated.

Hopefully with a little negative rear camber and a 195/60 tyre stretched on they should clearance ok. I have some plastic centre caps but I am not sure if I will use these – I may run them bare.

One point that is often discussed about these wheels is whether or not they are genuine ‘American Racing Equipment’ if they do not have the name casting in the back of the rim. One of the wheels that I have still has the original ‘American Racing Equipment’ tyre mounting instructions sticker on the inside of the rim even though there is no name casting. This wheel has been discussed on both Pelican and Early S with my photo used and credit given elsewhere!

Image

There is a little progress in some other areas too.

The calipers are back from refurbishment – steel rears and aluminium fronts.

Image

The rear window is now in with a genuine rubber and trim.

Image

A box of freshly powder coated parts has been returned. The front bumper is now fitted on the car with mesh fitted to the fog light holes and the front lights are now fitted and working.
