might have to change the name of this thread for a third time....

lacking in photos but that will be remedied next week

the red 72E coupe bare shell has been back from the blasters for a couple of weeks at SVP and new repair panels have now arrived. Fire up that MIG !

the 73E engine i bought it with has gone to its new owner in France

the 901 gearbox has also gone and a few other bits

which leaves me with an effective in-price of about £4.5k for a blasted rolling shell / blank canvas. I feel quite happy about that

RS spec wider rear arches and original sport seats arrive next week

engine options are driving me demented though and i think its time to get off the potty

1. rebuilding my 2.7 from a 75 Carrera ... was the original idea but the estimate was scary

2. slot in a 964 3.6 engine.... lots of advantages but am worried i'll miss the zinginess. and knacker the value

3. a new idea has emerged. Its a 72 car so you'd put a 72 engine in it wouldnt you?

MORE ON MONDAY... the words "barn find" may be involved 8)

further to weekend postings

I have bought this targa. Original UK RHD car, 3 owners, silver originally, last owner since 1984, garaged since 2002. At some stage in the early 80's I think someone crashed their 72S and the important parts found their way into this Targa. Hence it has a 72 S engine and a few other nice bits. It will effectively be built into my 72 coupe shell for an all-72 year but non matching numbers S/RS spec hotrod. Very pleased with that as an outcome.

the 3.6 engine I bought has found a new home v quickly (probably makes more sense transplanted into an SC or similar)

Looks a nice Targa - too good for a donor, those RHD Targas are few and far between these days?

I would!

Be good to see what sort of condition it's in. Looks ok from the pics but who knows!

Maybe stick a T engine back in it and it may be a good car.

It's a '73 RHD Targa (first registered in Mar '73) - a very rare car.

I'm sure Mike (210bhp) will be along shortly ...

well all I can say is... I have genuinely bought it as a donor.

But anyone with a burning desire to own a rare, silver 3 owner RHD targa (with or without engine and box) ... PM me ! :)

A really rare car, so someone will be along to use the shell as a bitza and will be a nice drive I would think.
I can't imagine anyone on here cutting any early shell up unless really far gone.(?)

If bought for a profit making project, then there will be doubts, but as an enthusiast's car, be rather nice.
