DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi

I was a member of PCGB for many years membership # 1442 and it was this very attitude that made me terminate my membership especially in the 356 fraternity (if it's not RHD it does not exist etc etc etc). People who cannot justify the cost of a genuine speedster but have all the enthusiasm and love of the marque should not be treated like this especially as they are not trying to pass their car off as genuine. Are all 911 lightweights made of steel or do they have bits of plastic/ carbon fibre attached to the boot,bonnet and door hinges I don't know. Best thing is not to go and don't give them the satifaction of taking your money, which I am sure they will happily do, unless you have to produce a COA at the gate to get in.

Ian you hit the nail on the head - DDK IS a great place for Porsche owners and rep owners, and anyone else who has a keen interest in all this Porsche.

Same here but personally I have been disappointed with this event over the last couple of years in terms of what is actually there.
Organisation is good, price is very reasonable but it's the same thing every year.
What has made it good is the people (specifically DDK members), meeting up with old and new faces, seeing nice cars in a nice setting, etc.
There are only so many times however that you can look around the keep, view expensively restored bodyshells or admire Nick's or Alan's (or any other DDK Professional's) work.
With the attitude displayed in the response on the first page of this topic it would seem that C at the C just got crossed off my events to do list.
(I'm sure messers Hampton and the other Porsche Classico's will now have a re-think about their stance because of this - )

I have followed the threads with great interest and I can totally understand the responses and frustration that comment has made. I can assure you that any REPLICA is welcome to our event. Unfortunately due to the size of this years event we will be stricter on the gate and direct you to the public car park, where if permissable, you can all park together.

This event is sponsored by Porsche but is also HEAVILY sponsored by the Porsche Public!

I was saddened to read some members saying the show has lost its shine? This year we have managed to secure what i can only describe as one of the best line ups of Porsche Motoring history in Europe, we have the winning Daytona 907 longtail, Martini 908-3, Targa Florio winning RSR, Kremer/Schickentanz 2.8 Carrera RSR, Newman/ Barbour /Stommelen "Hawaiian Tropic" 935 TURBO, the Samson RSR and the not seen in the UK before.......Type 64 BERLIN –ROME and possibly the Martini 917!!


All 3 of us have worked very hard to put on what we believe is a unique show with minimal budget and with our time and effort at no charge.

Please feel free to respond to me personally.

Haha, sorry. Im sure the event is great, but whoever wrote that email needs a good lesson in personal relations.

They need sacking IMHO. Nobody needs someone with that kind of attitude in their organisation, whatever it is. They certainly should not be allowed to interact with the PAYING public.

Small minded nobodys should be kept in a back room photocopying or maybe at best making the tea.

Glad to see all are welcome and that the display is sounding exciting but if you have any balls at all you will make the person responsible for sending said email send a personal apology retracting their bigotism and eating a large dose if humble pie. Otherwise if you dont distance yourself and you simply 'understand' why responses to it have been what they have been but dont renounce them then you are no better than the person who made them.

The issue that replicas are not allowed within the grounds is not the point here at all, if you care to read the earlier posts you will have realised that. What the minor issue about replicas did bring to light was the very poor attitude that emailed reply from you 'the organisers' gave, it was snide and aloof and just shows the worst of the Porsche club scene.

Most likely out of pure stubbornness and principals I will not be attending the event, most certainly not in the near future either.

I'm sure I'll miss out on some great cars, but the attitude behind the scenes is diabolical.

Jason, I do not need to make anyone apologise, they are their own person. I think I made it quite clear in my response what we believe is the way forward and hope to see everyone there, replica or not!.

Dear Rod, Jane and Fredie (or what ever your names are as I don't care any more and even less so after reading your post's)

As I have said in an email to you (which you haven't had the manners to reply to), as the senders of the original offending email, I was amazed and appalled at your rude and arrogant response to me.
I, like most if not all on this forum, am a avid Porsche enthusiast classic and new, I have always most liked the 356. Yes mine is a replica I made that choice because I wanted a daily drive classic and with it having the added atraction of having the Porsche 911 engine, gear box and other bits and bobs I jumped at the chance. Rather than having a car that sits in a garage I enjoy every day of driving mine, it also turns many heads and draws lots of very positive interest where ever I go in it.
Any apology would now be very hollow as you have made your point quite clear.
I would like to wish you luck this your event it is a very great shame that now I and posibly many more Porsche and replica owners will not be attending. There are many other Porsche and other classic car event that I am sure we WILL be welcome for our cars and for our money, NOT just for our money.

It would be nice if the person who wrote the initial email had the balls to stand up and say it was me and I am sorry ,but instead all three of you are now tarred with the same brush .
As said before have been in Porsche ownership since 1993 and on my 12 Porsche and a owner of a 356 replica speedster and have to say this car gets more looks and complements than all the others put together .
I have found no problems going to any other shows and taking the car and all are most welcoming .
