if you could let me know ASAP what start time you want, otherwise you'll be released from the car park as it fits around the other groups.

James - put me down for the 9:10 or 9:15 slot whichever suits you.

I have to pick up Carolyn at Ambleside at lunchtime when she finishes work - so solo for this bit!

James, sorry for delay - been away. I'm going to give the pass a miss and lay in wait at Ambleside to tag on with a group there so don't need a St Bees starting time...

Somebody has to tell me how you all knew this post was on here. It was a complete fluke I found this because I mis-navigated where I was intending to get to on the Site ? Is there some notification feature that I'm missing here. How do you all find these 'relevant' posts if there is not a PM or the like sent to point you in the right directly.
I am feeling a little bit IT dim !!

That being said, we're happy to start whenever as long as it isn't early.
Do I assume there will be some tulip type road book/sheets so we all know the way ?
Could start at 9.25 and then catch up with Kevin in case we break down !!! We would of course then reach critical mass of 6 old Porsches !!!

subs paid and can access these links no problem now I know they are there. Thing is how do you possibly know these threads exist unless someone sends you a link to them ?

Tried a couple of times to print out from Google Maps with the individual junction details using James route but just locked up my PC and it took 30 minutes to turn it off and reboot each time. Looks like it will be a traditional road atlas and the Tourist Guide for us. Fortunately Sarah is a prety good navigator. Lifes too short

maybe you just need to log-in slightly more often

Andrew, easiest way of making sure you don't miss any threads is to use the

' view posts since last visit ' button .... this button is located in the top right corner of front page of the forum


I'm not supplying tulip books as there is not an 'official' route. If you are having trouble printing out a google maps route maybe someone else on here could print one out for you ?

The 5 cars bit is only for hardknott & wrynose .... the roads here are pretty much single track & very slow with limited passing places ..... if a line of Porsches met a couple of other cars coming the other way there are places where this would become very difficult . The time left between teh groups should in theory prevent loads of Porsche bunching up & causing problems. Once through that area & onto Ambleside people can join with other groups / split up etc etc do whatever they like as the roads start opening up.

One the day, it might work out that the groups get split slightly differently, but I'll tackle that then For now at least everyone has a time to work to

Hi Doug, would be good to meet up again it isnt far to Ambleside, I reckon that taking it steady, allowing for cars coming the other way over the Hardknott and not getting lost it should take about roughly 1hr15mins - we're leaving at 09:20 so we should be there around 10.30-10.45 ish - hopefully there will be a mobile phone signal so worst case we dont see you give us a call.
The group is only really required to get folks up to Ambleside, then its every man for themselves to do what they want. Personally I'll be turning up the pace to 'touring' until the luch stop which I reckon we'll do around Nateby area

just one thing to add .... everyone please be observant when on the A686 between Penrith and Alston . This is a very popular bikers road & the Police are more than aware of this .... so watch out for both
